Niko
It's really going to town here. Definitely over 4" now. I bet some of this is from the lake, visibility dropped under 1/4 mile here. 20160301_130306.jpgVisibility doesn't seem all that bad from what I am seeing! Nice snowfall. Geos
Visibility doesn't seem all that bad from what I am seeing! Nice snowfall. I couldn't see the end of my block at times and the next cross street is about 1000 feet down the road. 5.3" total. Not quite what I was expecting, but pretty good considering 40% of that fell in 2 hours. Niko
Currently at 6.1" and counting. Snowing a good half inch an hr now with 1"/hr @ times. By looking at the radar, I still have couple more hours of snow, so a 8-12inch sounds just about right. My snowblower is on standby. jaster220
For mby: 1.5 WAA0.3 Mix3.5 The Defo-ripper!0.5 LES5.8 Total Lansing looks solid 10" range to my eyes, and I had my evening commute coincide with the worst of that heavy ripping stuff! 1/8 to sometimes 1/16th SMI visibility, people pushing cars at intersections, semi's stuck in the industrial park streets, x-way down to a single lane at times, and I-94 (near Jackson) the worst I've ever seen it. By far the worst conditions I've driven in quite some time. Of course, Jan '14 happened on a weekend so I only drove around town that day. That's perhaps the last time it was anything like yesterday's event. Crazy! Had this slowed down a little it would've been bigger than last week's storm, and better for that matter. Still hated shoveling my drive with a melted slush-fest underneath. Totally hate that stuff. City heat in the ground is hard to loose at my place. Already early bulb flowers were up about 1.5" - noticed them Sunday. Footnote, highest official report was a couple 14" totals out of Barry Cnty to my NW. My place was 1/2 a county too far SE and got a lot of dry slotting/mix. 2 Quote Winter 2023-24 Snow Total = 52.8" (89% Normal Season) Largest Storm: 12" (1/12-13) Oct: 0.1 Nov: 2.9 Dec: 7.5 Jan: 31.7 Feb: 6.0 Mar: 4.1 Apr: 0.0 Avg = 59.2" (Harrison): 2023-24 = xx.x" Avg = 45.0" (KDTW): 2022-23 = 33.5" 2021-22 = 35.6" Avg = 49.7" (KRMY): 2020-21 = 36.2" 2019-20 = 48.0" 2018-19 = 56.1" 2017-18 = 68.3" 2016-17 = 52" 2015-16 = 57.4" 2014-15 = 55.3" 2013-14 = 100.6" (coldest & snowiest in the modern record!) 2012-13 = 47.2" 2011-12 = 43.7" Legit Blizzards (high winds and dbl digit snows): Feb 2011, Dec 2009, Jan 2005, Dec 2000, Jan 1999, Mar 1998, Nov 1989, Jan 1982, Jan 1978, Jan 1977, Apr 1975, Mar 1973, Jan 1967, Feb 1965, Jan 1918
