A bit of a personal post on my end. This was a few years in the making but had to postponed several times due to the passing of my mom during Covid and obviously the continuation of Covid until we are safe to travel. And also why I made this trip back to the home country for the first time in 20 years.
This was taken at Central Highlands of Vietnam in Da Lat early morning. The fog and mists was just like home.
It's going to be a beautiful day here with sunshine and highs in the upper 60's. I started a thread for the upcoming storm early next week that could bring a variety of weather to the Plains.
It's looking more and more likely that a strong storm will bring a threat of severe weather along with heavy rain and potentially a Winter side depending on the amount of phasing that occurs. Currently the GFS has the upper level low closing off over NE Iowa and the Euro is more progressive both solutions bring beneficial rains to the center of the nation where moisture is needed badly. Lets discuss.
The official H/L yesterday was 36/31 there was a trace of snowfall. It was another windy day with a highest wind gust of 37 MPH out of the W. There was just 26% of possible sunshine. For today the average H/L is 50/31 the record high of 78 was set in 1905 and the record low of 8 was set in 1923. The most rainfall of 1.33” was in 2020 the most snowfall of 3.3” was in 1947 the most on the ground was 10” in 1970. Last year the H/L was 48/28.
With just 4 days to go in March even with the record cold this month with a mean of 41.2 is still +6.2 above average. There has been 3.54” of precipitation that is +1.52 the 7.2” of snowfall is right at average. For the season GR is now at 47.5” of snowfall that is a departure of -27.7” and is the 4 lowest snowfall total in the last 75 years.
Such is life!
But not sure how you define gilded. We drive old cars and have never bought new in our lives... our vacations consistent of a Costco run at the start and joining my wife on paid business trips when she is a presenter... our date nights are usually at the sushi place in the strip mall by Safeway... we do all our own yardwork and gardening... and we are currently paying large sums of money to support aging parents.
What we did was roll all our equity into a piece of land and built this house as cheap as possible over two decades ago and have slowly made improvements as money became available. It was a good investment. My dad was a teacher and my wife's dad was a plumber. We don't come from money and don't live like we have money.
But I apologize for my life long fascination with weather. Its really just me trying to control nature with my immense wealth.
