As Doiinko has mentioned, definitely gonna be a nail biter to see if PDX can match or potentially break their record for consecutive days without measurable rain. They will be at 64 after today, with the record at 71. Euro would give them 69 (😍) before some sprinkle potential gets in the way on Wednesday.

Also base on models projections that we’ll be in top 2 or top 3 for longest 70+ Days streak. 72 may be out of reach but 62 is very doable for #2.

ECMWF had 69 for a high at SEA today.

It was 70 at noon.

Reminding me of that period in early September 2017 when the Eagle Creek Fire made the run through the Gorge. Maybe a fair bit stronger than that event actually

Requiem, you are correct. I think this event will be somewhere between 2020 and 2017.

It could conceivably end up 90/91 or so if they catch some downslope.  Smoke could be a wild card.  So it’s probably a few degrees high.

ECMWF has 91 that day... not too different than the GFS.     But smoke will definitely be a factor.

I was definitely getting anxious in early June that we would not have summer this year.   But very satiated now.

Yeah, 2017 was much more of a straight up summer subsidence pattern with a relatively weak thermal trough. In this case, the deep thermal gradient thanks to the shortwave dropping into the Rockies.  Aside from the comparisons to the 2020 juggernaut, it’s also comparable to mid September 2014, albeit a considerably warmer version, which will probably actually help keep wind speeds down a bit thanks to a shallower inversion layer (no mountain wave…)
