Conditions are slowly improving for the Puget Sound.  Now it is mainly the north sound and NW Washington and the Lower Mainland struggling with unhealthy air.  Still moderate air for the rest of the region.  At least the blue sky can be see today...

Here are the latest Satellite images from about 20 minutes ago. We can see a clear NW tip of the Olympic Peninsula with minimal smoke, so that is a positive! The coast is looking good too.

Smoke models show smoke continuing to to go away from the North Sound slowly, but Skagit, Whatom, and foothill locations will not seeing clearing today.  It may clear up more tomorrow.

The big plume of smoke out in the Pacific looks like it will continue to move northward off the coast of central BC coast.  This map is predicting late Sep 11 at 9pm tonight.

85 and smokey but feels more like 80. No AC due to the smoke. Rooting for the euro next weekend. Son may have to wear his red Columbia / Winter jacket with mittens packed just in case for that WSU game. I bought our tickets on the shady side but it might get cold.

12z EPS vs 18z GEFS only 6 days out. does anyone have any thoughts about which model suite is the superior model we should lean towards here? I don’t think I’ve seen it discussed much. 🤔🤔🤔🤔

The combination of smoke and unexpected cloud cover kept temps way below forecast in many areas.  Nice to have one go our way for a change.

Geeze.  The ECMWF takes the PNA down to -4 and the GFS and GEFS only go around -1.5.  Even the EPS is -3 next weekend.

Down to 77F here. Still smokey of course but at least this is happening later in the year when we don't have to have A/C running constantly.

Does anyone have experience using an anemometer (particularly one that won't attract lightning as we get a fair amount of summer convection here)? I have a weather station, a cocorahs rain gauge which isn't used often, and a snowboard but I'm looking for something else to measure. I'm not interested in SWE water content- too much work.
