DP of 35 at SEA.  This is a good scenario for large diurnal spreads in wind sheltered areas.  So far I'm looking at 78/43 today.

Interesting...the ECMWF shows no mid or high clouds in the Seattle area as the ULL gets kicked up through SE WA, but it does show an invasion of low clouds tomorrow night.

SEA is at 78/55 for the day.    Basically a normal July day.

I like being in a similar elevated and more drainage wind prone area.   Usually keeps the frost away later in the fall and early in the spring.

This Nina isn't acting anything like normal so who knows what the winter will be like.  Still potential for something great across the northern tier from the Great Lakes westward, but there is an obvious note of caution given the unusual nature of things this year.

Austin is a pretty neat town, it least the music and food scenes. It's 'out of place' for TX, imo.  Dallas blows, full of traffic and no character at all.  but its all Texas and it sucks in general so there's that

75/52 today. Those fires in the cascades have picked up but still doesn’t look as bad as the HRRR models showed.
2/3rds of the way through September were +3.9 above normal. Just 0.61” of rain in the last 95 days following July finishing +2.4 and august finishing +3.3.

This is one of those patterns where the difference in mins across the area gets pretty ridiculous.

Just flat out insane to have Jul - Sep be so warm with a Nina.  Obviously 1967 had the ridiculous Aug and Sep, but July was reasonable that year.  That year was also not a multi year Nina.

Atleast above normal in September doesn’t feel too bad.

I'd say the HRRR did quite well showing the timing of the smoke enhancement through late this afternoon and it looks to still be on the increase. Obviously not ash falling from the sky kind of thick smoke but it was never forecasting that.

77/49°F for the day here. DP of 36°F. Really like these warm days and cool crisp nights. Just about the best time of the year. And yes, we have had sunny, warm stretches in September before. Just wish this month wasn’t so super-dry. A good soaking in between the warm, dry spells would be most appreciated.

It's called clown range for a reason.

question:

Would you sacrifice an average to above average snowfall for winter (as it relates to your location) for a record breaking, sustained cold wave (10 degrees or more below normal for at least a week)?

Por que no los dos? 😇

That's tough but above average snowfall for me, though I wouldn't be opposed to a record-breaking cold wave either. Snow for December, record cold waves for January to set up for more snow in February.
