Back in early June I was sure our grapes would not reach maturity this year... the vines were not even at full leaf out at that point.    But now we have huge clumps of purple grapes in large quantities and they look great.    Turned out to be a very productive year.   We have Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay grapes.    Might become a wine growing region here.  😀

There is a full on legit vineyard about a mile from my house towards the park along Silver Falls Hwy, similar elevation to us.

Moving north... WA has become the new CA in terms of wine production over the last 20 years.

Ensembles are a sea of warmth.

Basically a nightmare.  I guess the good news is the pattern seemed like it would never change in the spring and it did.  That was very sudden and with not a lot of notice.

The degree of ridging/split flow is impressive for a niña of this intensity, as modeled. Very reminiscent of 1988, though even that year had a better established northern jet.

It might be worth it to dissect 1942.  It seems that and the 1988 La Nina had some similarities.  It is pretty interesting to note this September will be in the same ballpark as 1988 and 2010 for SOI. which were the two highest in the last 40+ years.

Both of those winters had very extreme blocking.

February 1989 was pretty epic.

It's called clown range for a reason.

It probably doesn't matter what analogs we look at... nature will just do something totally different anyways.

I don't think most of us expected the warmest and driest July - Sept ever this year with a rapidly strengthening 3rd year Nina.    But that is what happened.

Off topic, but certainly @Jginmartini and @TigerWoodsLibido would appreciate this....big update last week to MSFS2020 last week addressing winds and the flight model.  I'm watching a real life A320 pilot flying around in Ian, left Fort Lauderdale, went to Havana, and is currently trying to land in Key West.  The graphics with the clouds and bands of rain is incredible.  The wind simulations is also pretty incredible.  He had to abort on his first attempt with a 50+kt gust.  He said the most he has landed in (in real life) is 45 kn, and the simulator was pretty much what he would expect to feel.

If you have the time, V1-Simulations is the guy.

Funny you mention flying as I just boarded and heading overseas.  Bought and hour of internet to get the latest on the Hurricane as I have a family on the east coast of Florida.  checking here for any info.  Will scroll through after this post.
Anyhow, very cool on the update to the sim!!! Man, I wish I was still in doing the thing but lately I’m just on the go in the outside world.  Someday I may return flight sim as it is just a cool realistic program and so immersive. Still would love to build a cockpit !!! Perhaps when I age.  Thanks for the update Wayne 😊

I guess my phone is monitoring the GFS because it took away the rain for tomorrow.

Same for me.   And no idea how today is cloudy and 82 either.   It was totally sunny and 84.    Now it shows some showers Thursday which is probably accurate.

Lol! Bosnia 😱

Promised my younger brother I would do a pilgrimage here.  Andrew may know some of the going ons over here….but it’s regarding visions of Mary in this village by a bunch of kids who are now older.  We’re actually staying at one of the places the visionary help run and she will probably be serving us.  New adventure for me….bring it on!  Going to be fun and first time in Europe.

I can't believe your first time to Europe is to derpy Međugorje - I say this as a half-Bosnian & not a comment on religion - I hope you'll have time to visit Mostar, Sarajevo, or the Croatian coast as well. Beautiful country there!

You could say that.  The winter of 1988-89 is one of my top 5 that I've seen.  That was after a frustratingly boring autumn as well.

The group I’m going with will do some side trips….Mostar really does look cool.  So hope to explore a little.

Will be back though…this trip just opens the door for me :)

If the job pans out which I think I’ll do just fine there I may consider moving out to Bonney lake possibly. Moar snow chances.

I think you would like it way better there.  Much prettier, much colder on the mins, and snowier of course.
