At this rate we'll be lucky to get a <75 high or measurable rain until mid October. Temp wise next week is really just looking like it will be average at best.

Needed payback for our first cool and wet spring in ten years 😭

So is that small plume of smoke just SE of Mt. St. Helens a fire or just dust blowing off of the mountainside? I'd hope not the former because that area's gonna get hammered into tonight.

Do you mean SW? That’s the Kalama fire. Up by Kalama Horse Camp. It’s 4 acres and mostly under control, but that will definitely be tested later today and tomorrow.

12Z GFS looks troughy in the long range.    But the 12Z GEM is very ridgy compared to its 00Z run... throwing darts as usual.

62F with thick smoke. And we’re only just getting started. Winds should be coming over the Belknap Gap and down the McKenzie and Willamette rivers soon. 😔

Thank you! Glad to know they've at least got a handle on it though no doubt our fire crews have their work cut out for them the next few days.

Have a feeling EUG is going to fall just a bit short of their predicted high of 96 today.

Wind hasn’t broke through here as of yet. Definitely a good subsidence inversion in place keeping things in check thus far.

When would you estimate the period of strongest downslope to be? Later tonight into early Saturday?

The gradient peaks tonight, but slowly shallows and becomes more east/west oriented as the mid levels warm.

East wind noticeable now. Flags have switched to easterly from the McKenzie. Strong gradient to our east to push the flow over the cascades in a mountain wave event. Matter of time before temps spike. Already are to our north and east…

12Z ECMWF shows a huge shift west with the troughing late next week so the rain is delayed by 2 full days but it still gets there by day 9.      Hard to trust it though when its changing so much from run to run.

But the 12Z ECMWF really gets there by days 9 and 10... so maybe the westward shift is better for more rain in the end.

Kind of a dirty ridge all week, but onshore flow for normal temps.
