I'm pulling for the ECMWF solution.  Major crashes have been known to happen after hot August / early September.

No doubt there would plenty of lows in the 30s in the Western Lowlands with that ECMWF solution.

The moisture is just getting eaten alive when it gets north of OLM.  Too much dry air from yesterday.

The ECMWF shows it getting really cold in the Northern WA Cascades next weekend.

Looks like 850s there get to 1C, which I believe translates to around 5k for snow levels. Not bad for September at all.

Gets as low as 2C over Mt Hood which is good enough for Meadows and Timberline but the moisture heads east by then.

Tropical moisture should work its way north throughout the day, slowly. Also a bit of midlevel descent this morning over the Sound via SPC mesoanalysis. That'll kill off showers pretty quick.

The trough being depicted is almost perfect snow scenario the area in Dec./Jan.

Not enough of a continental component for a true #blast during DJF, but would come with some Fraser leakage and a hell of an onshore snow event for the foothills and cascades. PSCZ region would be an interesting place to be.

I think the continental component would be there with that 500mb configuration in the winter.

With the offshore blocking that far north it wouldn't be a typical CZ situation.  Maybe a sliding C-Zone.

Looking at the size of that lake you get a good idea of how enormous that mountain was before it blew up.  They say it was equal to Tambora when it went off.

Conditions are slowly improving for the Puget Sound.  Now it is mainly the north sound and NW Washington and the Lower Mainland struggling with unhealthy air.  Still moderate air for the rest of the region.  At least the blue sky can be see today...

Here are the latest Satellite images from about 20 minutes ago. We can see a clear NW tip of the Olympic Peninsula with minimal smoke, so that is a positive! The coast is looking good too.

Smoke models show smoke continuing to to go away from the North Sound slowly, but Skagit, Whatom, and foothill locations will not seeing clearing today.  It may clear up more tomorrow.

The big plume of smoke out in the Pacific looks like it will continue to move northward off the coast of central BC coast.  This map is predicting late Sep 11 at 9pm tonight.

85 and smokey but feels more like 80. No AC due to the smoke. Rooting for the euro next weekend. Son may have to wear his red Columbia / Winter jacket with mittens packed just in case for that WSU game. I bought our tickets on the shady side but it might get cold.
