I had 0.14" total, so I suppose you're technically correct that it was a reverse gradient.

All I know is, many areas to my south got more than I did on the Friday event (and I didn’t get post-event showers on Saturday, either).

I wasn’t bragging about my precip totals this morning any more than I was whining on Friday when I posted my numbers after that event wound down for me. It is very rare to have a storm that delivers for everyone across the entire region.

It's called clown range for a reason.

0.00" here.

I see we're setting up for yet another rainy season with a steep N/S precipitation gradient. Again it will be as if Washington and Oregon are in completely different climate zones.

Things can and probably will change big time as we get deeper into the cold season.

Pretty chilly looking 12z GFS run. Massive amount of NPAC blocking.

On this day in 2020, my location received a dusting of snow. Still waiting for the first frost but it has been getting colder.

Seven years ago today at Silver Falls. Looks like the rains came late that fall too... I remember leaving work early to get a final hike in before the rains hit in earnest.

I noticed a lot of whining over the weekend. On the other hand, actually just being outside most of the weekend, it finally felt like fall. Very different, definitely not historic or even all that chilly, but refreshing.

In the old days, EUG got more average yearly rainfall than SEA.

Redding city proper gets more annual rainfall than PDX and SEA.

Granted, I think that may have changed with the new 1991-20 averages. And while it’s technically true it’s kind of a misleading stat when they get about the same number of precip days as Ellensburg or Yakima. Point is annual rainfall is much more of a geography/orographics thing than a latitude thing.

44 isn't terrible for a cloudy night this time of year.

Lol. Not wrong. This is actually pretty much dead on average weather for this time of year. Nothing looks cold or wet to the point of abnormality.

But after endless +10 anomalies average is freezing in comparison.

If this run is right the ski area will open in early November this year.  How weird would that be?  It's obviously showing some lowlands snow too.

Last year Bachelor didn’t open until December 13. 2020 was also a December opening. We’re due for a real early one.

Hopefully the gfs is rushing things a bit.  Pretty early for most of the lowlands to score.  Wouldn’t want to waste the best 500mb pattern of the winter on November 8th

Probably is rushing it considering it’s 348 hours out. I’d rather have that another 2 weeks out…was a pretty nice set up in early November 2017 for lowland snow but it came in the first week of November which made it tough for snow to accumulate down to sea level.
