After some rough seas, our favorite intrepid yet deranged Sea Captain has finally found calm seas. With a little shock therapy, a lobotomy performed by a "reputable" Tri-Cities neurosurgeon, and some strong antipsychotics, I believe things are looking bright for the Gorton's Fisherman.🤞

Hey! He looks half way stable now. This is fantastic news. We could be seeing a few appearances from him pre-Halloween and towards Winter. Outstanding.

The way this smoke layer is so well defined where the Sound meets the land on the east side is pretty surreal right now.   It has been stuck in the same place for 24 hours now.    The difference just to west in Friday Harbor is incredible.

Off-topic. By the way, that explosion I heard was in fact a pipe bomb that was lit and thrown out of a car as seen on video. I've seen the video myself. It was far bigger than video could possibly do justice. I live 1 mile from there. As I mentioned after it exploded I could hear the blast wave, and then a loud 'THUD' hit the back (west facing) side of my house. I wonder if this was targeted intentional at that location for a reason. Anyhow.

The visibility is still dropping at SEA.  Down to 1 mile or less now.  It pretty weird to see a lot of the state so much more clear than here on the sat pic.

AQI is also over 200. Friday can’t come fast enough. Sheesh

Big time snows aren’t too uncommon in November once you get up in the Fraser outflow areas.

Using the mostly complete data from NOAA, Seattle has had 8 occurrences with snowfall monthly totals equal or greater than 2 inches since 1950. So, not great odds but it does happen time to time.

Keep us posted on what they find out about who did it and why.  Might have just been someone doing it for kicks.

I would have thought it might be more than that.  We also had really good ones in 1921 and 1946.  Then of course the biggy in 1896.

Wow 1896 looks fun, it probably was better in Seattle but Portland went from 60/55 on the 14th, then 60/35 on the 15th and then 37/32 on the 16th. And then a bunch of subfreezing highs late in the month

Only been through there once... but they have great wineries in that area.    They also have Legends Resort and Casino!

This is pretty incredible satellite footage.  First pic is new satellite imagery from a few mins ago.  We actually do have some normal clouds about us, we'd just never know.

My word, look how bad things are in Northwest Washington and British Columbia.  It almost looks like giant glaciers.

Visibility is quickly dropping here. AQI just hit 300, and the smoke is so thick that it looks more like fog down the street. Only 64 degrees at the moment.

Hang in there.  Onshore floor starts really soon and by mid-morning tomorrow we will see significant improvement. :)

That distinct line just to the NE of the San Juan Islands is amazing.   It's remained stationary since yesterday.  Must be crazy to see the incredibly thick smoke from Orcas Island just to the east and it never moves.

Just a reminder that today's epic #schmokeunderperformance still resulted in a high temperature 8F above normal. One that doesn't even feel cool on the skin... just "not hot."

For those curious, I attended a conference for emergency managers in western Canada where a group of climatologists provided their top analogues for this winter - it seems that they factored in quite a bit into their analysis. These were the top analogues:

1. 1985-86

2. 1975-76

3. 2000-01

4. 1971-72

5. 2021-22 (last winter)

6. 2001-02

7. 2012-13

give me some of that November 85 please
