Good grief that scenery is just incredibly beautiful. Those red tones add so much to the image.

I see we're setting up for yet another rainy season with a steep N/S precipitation gradient. Again it will be as if Washington and Oregon are in completely different climate zones.

Isn't the N/S gradient more pronounced in the fall? Maybe we can see more rain to the south in the middle of winter.

I was kind of hoping there'd be more snow up there (there was maybe 2" in the shade), but the lack of snow meant the fall foliage of the blueberries really shone through. And the bears must have been happy about it because we saw 4-5 different black bears foraging in the meadows. There's actually a bear in the first photo (not that you'd be able to see him, he's like a single pixel in size).

Yeah, could be. It just seems like every time I check in here, folks to the north are bragging about their 1"+ overnight rain totals while I've gotten nada.

The latitude difference between Vancouver BC and Medford is the same as between Paris and northern Spain. Or between Belgrade and Athens. The northern and southern PNW do have quite different climates as is.

I had 0.14" total, so I suppose you're technically correct that it was a reverse gradient.

All I know is, many areas to my south got more than I did on the Friday event (and I didn’t get post-event showers on Saturday, either).

I wasn’t bragging about my precip totals this morning any more than I was whining on Friday when I posted my numbers after that event wound down for me. It is very rare to have a storm that delivers for everyone across the entire region.

Yeah, sorry, don't mind me. I'm just being a weenie because it's still so relentlessly dry down here, and the models are trending drier with a big ridge returning in early November.

Granted, I think that may have changed with the new 1991-20 averages. And while it’s technically true it’s kind of a misleading stat when they get about the same number of precip days as Ellensburg or Yakima. Point is annual rainfall is much more of a geography/orographics thing than a latitude thing.

Lol. Not wrong. This is actually pretty much dead on average weather for this time of year. Nothing looks cold or wet to the point of abnormality.

But after endless +10 anomalies average is freezing in comparison.

If this run is right the ski area will open in early November this year.  How weird would that be?  It's obviously showing some lowlands snow too.

Last year Bachelor didn’t open until December 13. 2020 was also a December opening. We’re due for a real early one.
