So we had .84 which was on-line with NWS forecast. Dumped my gauge and the poor fly who must have died earlier this week from the heat too.

That's the exact rain gauge I have.  I love it!  I assume you have the outer part also which holds an additional 10 inches?

Looks like a lot of people on here had about that amount of rain.

Yes, I have the large outer part as well with the funnel. I don't like using the gauge for snow. I prefer the manual snow board measurement. I should report to Cocorahs just not sure if I can commit to doing it daily.

This run has Arctic air in place in BC at the end and pressure gradients just becoming northerly for us at that time.  A few days before that we have a cold surface high that has big frost potential.

And a low about to land in NW OR!

Same gauge I have as well.  I believe it is my third one since I had two freeze and crack on me.  My fault of course.

I use the outer part to capture the snow to get the water equivalent, but no doubt a snow board is good for measuring the actual depth.  I work at a countertop place so I was able to replace my snowboard with a piece of Corian.  A nice upgrade!

47F and being blessed by this (very well forecast) deformation band. Sat out on my porch and ate an apple for breakfast, admiring the cold humid air and the pattering of rain. Amazing. Life is great sometimes.

Nice! I have a summer bday so the last two year's I've asked my spouse to make a sqaure board out of wood / white paint for me. She's the stereotypical guy in shop with fancy tools and projects kind of deal which is not my aptitude at all. Last April my board was warped due to heavy wet snow so she made a new one for this year.

I was pretty happy with my totals since I'm in a semi-arid climate.

We might not finish too far off from average rainfall this month. Obviously a lock for a very warm October still. Should be done with the smoke until next September too.

Would be a remarkable recovery if we can get anything close to average for rainfall totals. Considering it would need to happen in just 10 days.

There are 700+ wineries in the Willamette Valley.

This place even grows olives in the Willamette Valley, and, well, they're trying their best:

What do you think about chances in the Portland area for thunderstorms? I see the NWS is mentioning a slight chance of showers and storms.

Better shear and low level moisture. Your chances are probably greater. Seattle has some terrain related dynamics that can help, but the atmosphere would need to cooperate. The sun is weaker now..might not happen.

Actually, one of the best spots for thunderstorms in the PNW away from the immediate coast would probably be around Eugene-Medford.

Wow, impressive! I'm definitely in some kind of weird donut hole here. Felt wrong to have to water outdoor plants this morning in late October while everyone around me was getting copious rain, but they were drooping from lack of water so it was either that or let them die.

Yeah we got a lot yesterday with the warm front and then had some heavy showers early this morning.
