I’m honestly feeling mid to late November this year for something noteworthy.  I think any ridging in early November remains kind of flat and to our west which allows a fairly seasonable pattern to take hold. Then things amplify and turn colder with a negative EPO and nice SE ridge.  Lock it in!

I'm eying the week before T-giving

This is how it's going to go down. Book it:

-First week of November, a large ridge blows up over the west coast, forcing our newly acquired storm track out to the east, and ushering in an inversion pattern for the lowlands. High latitude blocking associated with this ridge, in conjunction with a stout -NAO, drive cold air into Canada from Russia and the high Arctic, building a large pool over the north of the Continent. Maybe a big snap for the central/eastern part of the US.

-Second week, west coast ridge retrogrades, sending that cold air into the PNW and delivering the best cold snap during the first half of November since 1955. Highs around 30F. Big snows.

It's coming.

I'm going to be in L.A. during Thanksgiving so something is going to happen then!

November 23, 1985- 7 inches of snow fell in Seattle. Would love to see a repeat.

November 1985 was a glorious time to be alive. When that winter storm was forecasted, it was supposed to turn to rain and warm up. Instead, we got nearly two weeks with daytime highs below or near freezing and multiple snowstorms. I spent many long nights listening to my trusted weather radio. I will never forget it!! 🙌

PDX almost up to 60 again. After getting into the low 60s yesterday. Definitely not the endless 50s being advertised.

I’m sorry your region sucks…. Enjoying our -2.7 and -5.4 days last couple days. In fact, we barely broke 50 yesterday.

Guys it's still snowing...18" in the past 24hrs now. Would actually appreciate if it stopped to give the deciduous trees a break at this point. As of 4pm, town has seen 1.84" of liquid precip over the past 24hrs. This stuff is packing a lot of moisture!

31º/27º day. Currently 28.

That's a high moisture content for the area. I'm guessing a 20:1 snow to water ratio is more common.

Yeah we typically see 20:1 even 30:1 snow ratios during the winter. Shoulder season storms are a lot more like PNW lowland snowstorms.

Looks like today will go down tied (with 1969) for the 2nd largest October day snowfall with 10" in Bozeman. Record is 11" set in 1908 so a near record breaking event that is for sure.

Observations are taken at 4pm and snow was still coming down heavily so it will be interesting to see what the MSU station ends up with for the event.

Did you get much snow in the October 2019 and 2020 cold snaps?

Hoping the Gulf of Alaska/North Pacific ridge holds firm to give us continuous northwesterly flow super wet and heaps of mountain snows. Maybe a wind storm. Maybe. Probably not, but maybe. Maybe. Alright. Okay. So, basically a very active run and maybe a wind storm. Got it.

Think Rain, Wind Event/Storm?(If you want!), Mountain Snow, and maybe even a dry day or two! C'MON!!!!

My month to date average has dropped from 59.0 to 57.3 in three days.  Looks like I'll avoid topping the 56.0 monthly average I had in 2014.

Pretty surprisingly the mountain snows for the first system were pretty meager for the Central WA Cascades at least.  I went through there today and there was just enough to look pretty on the higher peaks.  Usually when it pours here with temps in the mid 40s like yesterday the mountains get pounded.

Even more surprisingly there was little evidence that any moisture fell at all in Cle Elum or Liberty.  It was cold and frosty over there though.
