I'm really hoping school is canceled for me Monday and Tuesday. Schools are going to announce today whether they will open tomorrow. The wind chills look borderline for school closings, but to be on the safe side hopefully they will cancel tomorrow. If they cancel tomorrow they will definitely cancel Tuesday because Tuesday morning will be the worse.

It's interesting the 6z runs pushed the coldest air north into WI, but the 12z flip flopped back south.

The RAP doesn't have the temps starting to drop until about 6 this afternoon, I wonder if the temps can crash hard enough to actually achieve our forecasted low.

As of now it's 18 degrees with a predicted high of 25, with a low of -6, I still think it's possible to reach it, but it may be endanger if the temps keep climbing higher and higher.

I think almost all schools area wide will close tomorrow. It's going to be -4 for high, and if the wind chills are predicted to be -28 for tomorrow I doubt they would really want students driving into school. We shall see though, a lot of private middle schools have cancelled around here, now we just have to have a lot of districts start to close! 

 

Edit* CPS is deciding on whether to close, if they do, it is almost a sure bet that the other districts area wide will cancel as well

Temp is heading up here as well. Was 14° an hour ago, now 21°. Sun broke out a few times. Still light winds.

 

Tomorrow does not look cold enough for schools to close especially in Wisconsin.

HRRR has Dubuque getting to a high of 29 today, then falling down to -4 by 11 PM and a wind chill of -29. And the temps will only continue to drop from then. I would say that's cold enough to cancel school, considering last Thursday we closed for -30 wind chills.

12z GGEM still showing system this Friday/Saturday...its the only model showing it though.  Still snowing beyond this timeframe.

Wow, I did not expect them to do that for tomorrow, but Tuesday yes.

 

So far there is no local closings that i know of. There are some that are opening 2 hours late though.

GFS is the only model lowering temps a bit, Euro/NAM/GGEM are all real frigid.  Euro has mid 20's subzero for ORD Tuesday morning.

Was supposed to get up to 27 or 28 today according to the NWS, and looked like it may even get warmer than that, but the temps actually dropped a degree two hours ago. Been at 25 the past two hours.

LOT snowfall total increased to 1-2" for areas along I-88, also increased Wind Chills to around -36 for the northern tier counties, looking good if you love winter weather!

Looks like LOT is going with a warning now for North Central IL with another 1-2" POSSIBLE

Up to 30F here, surprised temps have risen this high...a brief temperate relief before the arctic hammer unloads.  Should be a wild evening with plunging temps and wind blowing the snow around.

Up to 28° here. In the neighborhood drifting isn't that big of a deal, but passing by agricultural land it is.

No school for me tomorrow and likely Tuesday. Starting to be a issue for a lot of schools because of trying make up the days missed. For my school they just announced that the days we miss this week won't be added to the end of the school year. I wonder if they're going to slash our spring break time or something. That would suck lol

the nws chicago just upgrade the winter weather advisory to winter storm warning to the west of chicago

Somewhat surprised that CPS will close tomorrow. I guess they want to avoid enraged parents and teachers again.

This month has been quite and active period on this Forum and it would put the icing on the cake if we could finish off this month with a BANG!  It's been an amazingly wintry winter so far this year and Feb looks like it wont disappoint.  Bring it baby!
