snow_wizard
Looks like a relatively rare consistently cold winter is on the table this year. Would love to see that sometimes. That's what happened in January 1880 and it was pandemonium. Widespread 4 to 6 foot totals. I have really examined that event and it's obvious between the first and second intense low pressure systems we were in a baroclinic zone. Remarkably there was enough of an Arctic air tap to turn all of that water into lowland snow. I can't even imagine what the totals may have been a bit inland when totals were 4 to 6 feet at sea level. That was one of the greatest lowland snowstorms in the history of the United States. The Cats Meow
This stretch of sunny days and cold nights have been perfect. I love the cold morning and the sunny days, especially in the winter when things can get a bit depressing. I hope we get another stretch like this but with a few inches of snow on the ground. Wouldn't that be great? In a year of weird extremes and ridging it just feels right that we are going to get nailed.
