Thanks for the correction. Guess my memory was wrong. I know Portland was scoring big time and it was sure frustrating to get so little. But I got 20+" of payback in Feb 2019.

It's called clown range for a reason.

SW BC had a lot in early Feb 2017 didn't they?

Yeah boring here. We did have a little snow the beginning of the month, and Lake Goodwin ended up freezing completely over. But otherwise dull dull stuff.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

December was good in BC that winter and the clear cold weather in early January did freeze a lot of the lakes.

Yes. Some places in Whatcom County (kendal and maple falls) had 3 feet of snow. Most places had 1-2’ though in Feb 2017 after a cold January in which the northern corner of Lake Whatcom froze all the way across. We skated on it!

Realized today that winter 92-93 is 30 years old this year.

Dayum!

I’m sure most here are sick of my stories, but for the newer crowd…I got my license 30yrs ago next week! Took my drivers test with snow falling! Quickly learned how to drive in a lot of slippery conditions with the worst possible vehicle to do so in! I loved every second of it!

That was a truly special day. Can’t have been possible more than a handful of times in the last fifty years.

Yes. We had a nice stretch in February that year.  Pretty widespread.

I guess that is what I was remembering. 2017 was a sucky winter in central Puget Sound. Cold, no snow, pretty much everyone else scored big in either January or February.

It was a ‘71 Buick Skylark for me. The old state trooper we bought it from was a cheapskate and didn’t spring for the traction control and lane keep assist trim level.

He’s just being a pill.

There are some similarities in the recent and potential evolutions but analogs don’t quite work that way. (analogs are generally dumb)

Higher elevations of metro Vancouver had a lot of snow in December 2016 IIRC. I seem to remember some wild pictures of huge snowbanks on the Canadian forum.  “Catnip” had a couple feet I bet.

Mine was a huge '70 Dodge Polara station wagon with lots of rust but a 383 engine that still kicked *ss. Lots of fun getting dirty looks from people in newer, nicer cars with smaller engines as I would zoom up mountain passes and blow past them at speeds their vehicles could not manage on long upgrades.

I don’t really think we follow 2005s script, but it seems like we might see a “blockier” winter than we have seen in some years. That 84-85’ analog may not be terrible.

I’m pretty surprised we are going back into a stretch of cooler weather so quickly. I had late November and early December pegged in my mind as wetter and milder. Looks like we will get wetter but things will also stay cool and active which is the best of both worlds.

Can’t help but see the hand of that volcano in all of this. 🤡

Ya I had similar thoughts.  Weeklies have been painting a colder than normal stretch kicking in mid Dec through the end of the year.  Figured we'd see more moderation in the interim.
