I don’t really think we follow 2005s script, but it seems like we might see a “blockier” winter than we have seen in some years. That 84-85’ analog may not be terrible.

Seems highly unlikely we see a 7+ week stretch of unadulterated +EPO this winter.

I’m pretty surprised we are going back into a stretch of cooler weather so quickly. I had late November and early December pegged in my mind as wetter and milder. Looks like we will get wetter but things will also stay cool and active which is the best of both worlds.

Yep, the models really turned quickly over these last two days. Fun stuff!

Lowkey that sounds like a fun car. Hot box city. Did you give it a name?

Ya I had similar thoughts.  Weeklies have been painting a colder than normal stretch kicking in mid Dec through the end of the year.  Figured we'd see more moderation in the interim.

Though they never really showed us torching either… so the deep freeze may still be just beyond the horizon.

The early December period has been a good window in many of our great winters.

Mine was a huge '70 Dodge Polara station wagon with lots of rust but a 383 engine that still kicked *ss. Lots of fun getting dirty looks from people in newer, nicer cars with smaller engines as I would zoom up mountain passes and blow past them at speeds their vehicles could not manage on long upgrades.

The Buick’s 350 was a powerhouse, and the a** end of that thing loved to come around despite it weighing about 14 tons.

also pretty much the lowest solar radiation of the season, probably a decent chance at something memorable

Got down to 34 last night. Didn’t get any precip. I’m excited but also kind of surprised that we could be going back into another period of cold weather soon. I honestly thought we would be waiting until at least the second half of December before the models started showing something like this again.

I guess that is what I was remembering. 2017 was a sucky winter in central Puget Sound. Cold, no snow, pretty much everyone else scored big in either January or February.

What surprises me most about that winter is I remember everyone to the south getting all the goods it felt like the Portland area was getting snow event after snow event and then the one snowstorm in Feb happened and it actually managed to get SEA tied with PDX that winter on snowfall.

It was a ‘71 Buick Skylark for me. The old state trooper we bought it from was a cheapskate and didn’t spring for the traction control and lane keep assist trim level.

My driving test was in a 67 Chevelle 396 4 speed, I will never forget when the instructor said to accelerate!  I down shifted into 2nd and let her rip lol.

The Skylark didn’t have a stereo in it and during the winter of 91-92 I had an old boom box that got toted around in there along with some highly-curated mix tapes. Went through a metric f*ck ton of D batteries during that dog sh*t winter.

Managed to put in a hand-me-down Pioneer the next summer and the rest was history.
