Yeah, Friday night is easily looking like our most interesting window right now. Very iffy though.

18z Euro shows PDX at 27F early Friday AM with -7c 850mb temp. If that low can take a decent track, it might make it interesting. I suppose it is at least less iffy than that anafront and precip rate dependent snow the models were showing the other night.

Just a tad outside of the norm!  This region is indeed capable of extremely anomalous winters from time to time.

00z HRRR, still substantially higher DPs than what are being observed RN.

Edit: I am LEAVING NOW. I HAVE to get this homework done. Please yell at me if I come back.

Jan 2017 and Feb 2014 came during a time when I was living in the Puget Sound area and getting skunked by big snowfalls to my north and south. For a number of years I never got more than an inch or two at any one time. Got quite frustrating.

We had quite a run down here between 2013 and 2018 when compared to the sound. Away from the gorge, that kind of imbalance couldn’t be sustained when compared to the PS area. We’re still paying on that debt.

It happens.  In events like Dec 1919 and Jan 1930 Seattle got absolutely owned by Portland.  There are much more recent ones too of course.  The most notable in recent times was Jan 2017 and of course Feb 2014.

Yep I remember, sucked..

We come from the land of the ice and snow.

I'm fully prepared to be screwed here tomorrow.  I've seen it too many times.  East wind keeps things too dry, and low precip rates fail to get the job done.  Meanwhile the dry east wind flooding through here provides the dry air necessary for point NW of here to score big time.  At least with this one it looks like I won't have to wait long for my turn.

2017/2018 was decent here, around 5.5" of snow that winter. Not as good as PDX. We did better in 2016/2017 than PDX though, 18" or slightly more

Good to see bc the HRRR showed a substantially warmer solution for Wed. Sistek shared the HRRR and it wasn't promising

I’m not too Far East from you. I’m out towards ravensdale. Im worried the precip will just be eaten to shreds by any easterlies.

Right now here with the first event I think the absolute most we see is 1” but I’m expecting somewhere between nothing and 1/2”. Overall if the trend continues Thursday just May be our best shot.

That was a weird run for sure.  The Feb 2017 and Dec 2017 snows kind of saved me from losing it during that period.  We also had the little surprise in Nov 2014 come to think of it.

Temps were steady between 30-32 all day here, with a brisk ENE breeze along Lake Whatcom. We drove around the south end of the lake to go to Alpine Meadows Xmas tree farm in Acme, and there was a stiff NE wind blowing down even at the southern end of the lake. Not common! Great day to get our tree!! Fam pics are on wife’s phone. This is one I took near Wickersham facing east.

The more east you go the better the chances to score something in these cases.  Still not great for you either.  I'm sure glad the models changed so much for later in the week.

Or go on your Google play or Apple store and get the "my elevation" app.  I have it and use it all the time.  Really cool when you are driving around the mountains and wonder what your elevation is, as long as you have service :).

I think phone is best since it has a GPS built in.

Or looking at an actual topographical map of where your house is.  The phone thing is awesome for knowing your elevation wherever you are though.

The foothills to the east of Mt Vernon were gorgeous this evening. I didn’t take a photo, but they were plastered with snow from last night down to about 1,000’.

Interesting.   Mine is perfectly accurate based on topography maps and our house plans from 20 years ago.    And it follows me closely... it shows 996 feet on the main level of the house and then drops to 980 feet when I go downstairs.

The "my elevation" app is right on the money.

My Elevation - Apps on Google Play

I don't have Apple and looks like it isn't available.  I have heard good things about the Altimer App from my Iphone peeps.

South sound they are in the low 20s. GFS, which is usually too aggressive had them around freezing.
