The real answer is Long Range Cycle.  Some winters get into a routine of repeating patterns every 30 days or so.  Some years it doesn't emerge at all.

It’s actually “Lezak Recuring Cycle”.

Named after meteorologist Gary Lezak

Looks like I ended November with an average temp of 21.8F. By far my coldest on record over the past 5 years.

Bozeman MSU ended up 23.8F good enough for a -8.5F departure and 4th coldest November on record. They also averaged 5.3" of snow depth throughout the month which was the 5th highest snow depth average on record for November.

Records go back to 1892 so pretty impressive stuff! Winter came especially early this year.

EPS control is even further west. Still plenty of time for things to trend even more favorably.

Is your signature correct? Did you pick up 20" this month or have you gotten more since that giant storm?

It's not correct, that's just through October. I've been traveling so I haven't had a chance to update things this month but it's a good reminder!

Nam is taking away most of the snow tonight and I'm not surprised from looking at the radar.

The snow is coming from something completely different than what you're looking at.

Yes.  People have had their eye on the wrong thing.  It took me a while to realize that myself.

The funny thing is weather.com has had that feature coming up from the south on their futurecast which I don’t think any models were picking up on.

These last two days have been incredibly strange here.  Snow yesterday morning, followed by rain with temps right at freezing with brisk east winds, then a brief break where temps rose to 40 this morning, followed by falling temps and snow this afternoon and evening, then clearing which produced freezing fog.  Right now it looks amazing outside.  Snow flocked trees surrounded by fog and some stars above.

Band of precip is forming over SW WA lifting upwards. Based on its current trajectory it’ll be an hour or so before it gets here.

An overperformance wouldn't be at all surprising with this.

I’m hoping to get at least a quick inch tonight to get some snow back on the trees to make everything more of a wintry scene since everything melted off the trees this morning. Still have about 3.5” of snow cover so even if I don’t see anything tonight that should bode well for tomorrow night and going into this weekend. I’ll probably record some lows in the teens with the snow cover.

Looking at the Mesonet, temps have plunged in the places that got snow.  Seeing a lot mid 20s to around 30.

Hopefully I can get some dry snow Friday night. Not expecting anything at all here with this one.  Lastnight was fun but that snow did massive damage on my property.  4 trees down just in the back yard.

The one good thing about here, is much of my snow is decently dry.  A good percentage of it falls going into cold weather.

Three weeks of brutal model riding.  Repeating model solutions of bitter cold and monstrous snow storms and what do I get?  A half hour of very wet snow, a few days with highs near 40.  Goodnight all.

At least there is always next year. We can get some good lawn toppers in revenge Nino situations.
