There is support for permanent Standard Time in various states and studies show it is the healthiest option as well. After 9am sunrises here all winter is a hard pass for me.

But 4:20 AM sunrises in summer are pretty pointless...hence my desire for savings time.

Seems like it would be good for you, you’re always up early!😜

I guess that makes sense, but I like the extra daylight on summer nights, rather than sun very early in the morning in the summer.

Pressure Gradients - UPDATE
As expected easterly gradients are steadily increasing. I see over the past 20 minutes an east wind has now developed in Troutdale. This will increase and soon spread further west for locations east of I-205 and then tomorrow throughout most of the metro area. It will be much windier Monday evening into Tuesday morning with very gusty conditions east of I-205 and in/near the Western Gorge.

7 PM
[Gorge/Gap Gradients]
PDX-DLS
: -3.4mb
TTD-DLS: -3.4mb
[Cross Cascade Gradients]
PDX-YKM
: -4.2mb
PDX-MWH: -5.1mb
PDX-GEG: -3.2mb
OTH-GEG: -5.5mb
*Legend: PDX = Portland, DLS = The Dalles, TTD = Troutdale, YKM = Yakima, MWH = Moses Lake, GEG = Spokane, OTH = North Bend
A -Negative value denotes easterly/northerly flow
A +Positive value denotes westerly/onshore flow

What's a Pressure Gradient?
A pressure gradient measures the difference in Barometric Pressure between two locations. For example, PDX pressure is currently 30.35 in and The Dalles is 30.43 in. Higher pressure at The Dalles and lower pressure at Portland induces an east wind through the Gorge.

The NWS is forecasting gusts up to 32mph starting tomorrow night for my area, and the WRF was showing 35mph+

I am used to both time changes and what they represent during the Spring and Fall. I enjoy them. It's not a big deal other than my Cat wakes me up for breakfast at 4:30 AM thinking its 5:30 AM ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!! She adjusted just fine for her dinner time, but not in the morning. Anyhow.

Don't worry the east wind will pick up soon...33 here.

The gradients actually look pretty weak tonight.  Some of the most prone places might get some wind later I guess.

No problem. I'm glad this dry spell isn't going to last for multiple weeks.

Also glad it’s happening now and not during prime time! (Late November thru late February)

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

34F at my house. Will drop to freezing in short order as the Meadowbrook inversion deepens and overtakes my block.

47/32 on the day. Currently 33. I started getting Christmas out today!

So did I!

Had to run to Lowe’s to get more lights and found out, in fact, that inflation has indeed infiltrated the Xmas light market. I think the ol’ truck thermometer said 38 when I left the house!
