I think my uncles consignment store was right there. Hope it doesn’t turn into anything too serious! Are you worried?

Nah. The wind laid down tonight and the topography near town helps out a lot. Gradients look weaker tomorrow.

Sitting at a nippy 30 degrees already tonight.  Tomorrow will be 9 freezing mins in a row for MBY.

Wow. Crazy. Through yesterday Shawnigan Lake had only officially had 3 freezes so far this fall. And just looking at recent years that’s fewer than 2017, 2019, and 2020.

I’ve had 2-3” of rainfall in mine before and had it freeze solid and it’s never broken.  I’m not saying I would recommend it but they are pretty tough.  I was out of town for a week before the February 2019 blast and thought for sure it would be wrecked when I got home, but it was fine.

I’ve broken multiple rain gauges by letting water freeze in them.

It's called clown range for a reason.

Laying here on the couch and the wind is nuts. Strongest of this east wind event. Corbett new peak gust 69mph, Crown Point 79mph. It's raging outside right now so loud! PDX-DLS also now -8.6mb new peak gradient. At 10 PM pressure at The Dalles was supposed to be 1040mb, but was 1042.8mb and it's still rising. The gradient is forecast to weaken substantially from 4 AM through 7-9 PM before it ramps up significantly Thursday morning through Friday midday. WRF 4km sounding over PDX shows a bunch of 50kt wind barbs just off the surface. Could be an east wind storm east of I-205.

Last year was nuts. I can’t even imagine seeing this on a 10 day ensemble mean chart. And it was less than  year ago! Newborn will really mess your mind up

I would settle for a rain/snow mix this year tbh

00z WRF-GFS 1.33km hi-res for 12 AM forecast The Dalles at 1040mb, but currently at 1043.7mb. Whoops! PDX-DLS -8.8mb

Under-modeling of basin surface pressures during cold pool setups is practically a given.

Yep. Time and time again. The wind is fun right now and sneaking outside it's roaring. I can hear occasional bursts aloft too. The joys of living east of I-205.

I’m just fine being on the periphery. Don’t think I’d enjoy what can be week+ stretches of 35-45 mph gusts 24 hours a day.

23.7* IMBY this morning.

I had to go to Lowes in Lacey yesterday morning, to pick up the new kitchen sink/faucet (HOORAY!), and man....The fog and frost was so thick in some places through Yelm/Rainier/Lacey...It was like a winter wonderland! lol

There were also many dipsh*ts driving without their headlights on. SMH I flipped them all off, in my head...lol

Yes drove through all the smoke today.  I wonder when they started the fire, when it was calm, or when the winds were already blowing 40 mph.

Also my third night in the 20s. Pretty cold start to the month! And the sun has been really nice especially since we got a good soaking recently and likely will transition to a much wetter pattern.

We're in the midst of an unusual dry streak, but it doesn't feel drought-like. There's still plenty of condensation in the morning, surface soils are remaining damp.

Pretty amazing how even the slightest breath of wind can keep temperatures up here. The last couple of mornings have featured a couple 5 mph gusts which have kept the temperature oscillating between the upper 30s and the upper 20s. This morning we just managed to squeeze just after 4 a.m. before the temp popped up again.

8th freeze of the month with a low of 30. I think it's safe to say this November is slightly different than last November considering I didn't have a single subfreezing low last year.

If Phil were on he would be mocking for you for saying your snow just stays despite days of sunny weather with highs in the 40s.    Impossible he would say!   That is some magic snow.  😀

But I know its real... and it happens in my area all the time as well during the really low sun angle time of the year with dewpoints below freezing and clear skies.

Well this time of year pretty much no place on my property gets more than 2-3 hours of direct sunlight. Also it rained all day here last Friday.

Just wait until the mid-70’s show up in December or January. May not happen this year but it will happen soon, since it is now well within the bounds of our climate.
