Often with a low that comes down from Vancouver Island, this will lead to lower snow totals in the area in red (the south puget sound). Will be interesting to watch going forward!

I refuse to live in that dark grey area near the water. Seen it get screwed too many times.

Yeah I tend to worry about that with snow events as well. I was worried on Feb 2021 when the NWS said the Snoqualmie valley would only get about 2-4”, but then I ended up with almost 9” when all was said and done. I feel like Duvall doesn’t get screwed over as much as other places on the east side because it’s not exposed to any of the places where dry outflow comes out from the gaps but it still gets the dry down sloping winds.

East wind warnings don't pan out here to the full extent either. (I'm just west up the hill about 500', but get my groceries and gas in Duvall, so... I'm a native 😅)

If we got one of the old school arctic fronts that sweep through from Bellingham to Eugene that would be special.

I miss the old days when those winds would come crashing through and the actual front itself dropped a couple of inches of dry powder and then it was sunny and cold for a few days.

Yes?

I love snow in December!  Need to see a couple more runs but the 12Z ECMWF is the first run which made me think about bringing up the snowblower from the lower shed.

On This day in 1996 SW BC was moderating out of a historic stretch of early season Cold and snow.   And the December storm of the century wasn’t even showing up on the models yet.

I actually went up to Lynden during the first round of snow in Nov 1996 having no idea we were going to get our turn down here very soon.  That winter was something else up there to say the least.

I think that was about a year before I had a computer to start looking at weather models.  It was a different era back then from a technology standpoint.

I was pretty stoked to see the ECMWF showing 850s dropping to -12 over Seattle on the 12z run.  Truly cold!

Judging by the teleconnection forecasts on the EPS it's going to be cold for a long time.  PNA, EPO, and NAO all still well into minus territory at the end of today's run.

The doors are always a problem when building a shed.  Mine isn't falling apart but it doesn't want to close right.

And now you’re bragging about how your shed can’t handle the weight of the feet of snow you get every Winter? For SHAME.

Yeah if that ridge trends to become more amplified Day 4-6 then that's a game changer. For PDX metro all we need is modified arctic air to get into the basin, even 850s -8c because the low levels will be much colder likely.
Need those 560s dam heights over Anchorage to Fairbanks. Let's start the trend to strengthen the block. C'MON!!!!

I’ve been holding off on commenting about to more runs but to say I like where the Euro is going understatement. Been tracking ensembles trends so this may very well be the real deal.

Yeah the ECMWF/EPS give a lot of promise. Tons of potential ahead.

Perfectly fine… get the Cold air in place first and anything else will be a huge bonus. That’s how it usually works around here.
