When was the last time we had a long period of frosty mornings and clear, cold weather like this? Don't remember this in the last few years at least...

The better question is when we had a pattern like this so early.  Nov 2000 is the last one that really compares, but that was different in some ways.

I have some connections in Ferndale Wa. ( just north of Bellingham).  View of Orcas Island as well :) .  Helped my ex move up there these past few days.  We get along so I’ll be using her place here and there to explore up there.  I may hang a nest cam and weather equipment as well.  This photo is from her back deck looking north. Also a nice size flag across the way for measuring wind strength.  Just gorgeous area and so excited for me…lol!

Ferndale can be wicked during Arctic blasts.

But more accurate models then, lol.

I do remember some dry Octobers within the last 20 years.

Told her she’s in for a rude awakening with weather there and to be ready.  I definitely will be flagging her on some of the storms.  She’s already had to endure her first blackouts……its only the beginning.  I would love it!

Interesting. I remember the snow event and dry cold in early December, but not any wind.

But the Feb 2006 cold east wind event was easily the strongest I ever saw in Tacoma.

I remember that one blasted Tacoma good.  That was highly unusual.  Up here we had gusts into the 40s with temps in the low 20s.  The December event was insane up here.  It blew like hell for about 48 hours straight.

I wonder what Jake Locker is doing right now.  I bet his ribs still hurt.

I have toyed with the idea of moving to Whatcom County for a long time.  Back in the day it was much more impressive than in recent years though.  Some of the Januarys up there prior to 1970 were ridiculously cold.

I was able to meet him in 2019 at a conference and I told him how I was crushed when his Huskies came back to beat Cal on the last game of the regular season at the endof the 4th quarter. Huskies went to a bowl and my team did not.

Currently 25F degrees here.

This dry streak will be entering its 13th day tomorrow. Previous record dry streak for November is 9. Pretty crazy to go almost 2 full weeks without rain in the peak of the wet season. We went 17 days without rain in the fall of 2019…but half of that dry streak was in late October.

Bodes well for the rest of the "wet" season.  I'm excited about the possibilities.

Great call. Four days in a row with mins in the upper 20's at KSEA and a 13-day dry streak. image.thumb.png.7f396a413949a414bf6c1beadc6aa844.png
