And pretty much normal elsewhere. Interestingly AccuWeather has 2000-2001 as their top analog winter for this year, and their prediction is this: Yeah the resolution on that map that was posted is horrible but you can still get the general pattern it may be picking up on. Definitely not saying it is going to be right! Took out a huge percentage of the trees in the city because all the trees were still fully leafed out even though the snow melted quickly. My boss at the senior community I worked at had flown to Buffalo for a routine check in at a senior community that was run by the same management company as where I worked at…Well he got a lot more than he bargained for a few days after he arrived there. Went into major emergency mode without power and damage…Sounded insane. Then he makes it back here a few week later the massive snow hit here with about 18” of wet snow damaging and destroying so many trees and the power grid getting nuked. He got to relive the Buffalo scene here with no power for a week. The Senior Community looked like a war zone with so many trees down and we were running out of diesel for the big generator that ran nursing and assisted living with the diesel trucks unable to get to us, I had to drive the tractor to the fire station to load up a drum of diesel they had stored there so we didn’t have to evacuate the entire complex. Needless to say my boss was done with winter and we hadn’t even made it to December yet lol! 6 1 Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. Skagit Weather
It's coming??? Forecast discussion from SEA NWS hints at possibly some mixed snow and rain. They're currently going for low temperatures in my area next week in the mid 20s with highs in the low 40s which I think is a safe, but probably not inaccurate forecast. .LONG TERM /SATURDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/...Ensemble 500mb clusters are showing a deep upper level trough that will build southward into our region, pushing the atmospheric river south and out of out CWA. The environment is likely to be unstable, post-frontally, prompting the initiation of widespread showers throughout the region. Guidance is hinting at the formation of the PSCZ into Saturday, which may bring localized rainfall amounts. Snow levels will once again drop to around 2000 to 2500 ft, so snow across the passes seems likely during this time. Could be even more localized amounts if the PSCZ persists in these locations. Elsewhere in the mountains, scattered snow showers are likely will very little to no accumulation. Temperatures will fall back on Saturday, in the mid to upper 40s. Another quick round of precipitation throughout the area on Sunday as a shortwave trough ripples through our region. Snow showers in the mountains are once again likely. There is uncertainty for the first half of next week, with model guidance having a disagreement with the location of the upper level low to our region. However, snow levels look to drop once more to a range around 500 to 1000 ft, as they have been trending lower. Moisture is very questionable at this time, and is uncertain. If moisture is present, mountain snow showers are very likely. As for the lowlands, not confident enough for snow showers to be present. A chilly rain seems more likely, but cannot rule out a rain/snow mix at this time. As more high resolution models and guidance come in, will get a better handle on long-term forecast. 2 1 1 Home Wx Station Stats (Since January 2008): Max Temp: 96.3F (2009) Min Temp: 2.0F (2008) Max Wind Gust: 45 mph (2018, 2021) Wettest Day: 2.34 (11/4/22) Avg Yearly Precip: 37" 10yr Avg Snow: 8.0" Snowfall Totals '08-09: 30" | '09-10: 0.5" | '10-11: 21" | '11-12: 9.5" | '12-13: 0.2" | '13-14: 6.2" | '14-15: 0.0" | '15-16: 0.25"| '16-17: 8.0" | '17-18: 0.9"| '18-19: 11.5" | '19-20: 11" | '20-21: 10.5" | '21-22: 21.75" | '22-23: 10.0" 2023-24: 7.0" (1/17: 3", 1/18: 1.5", 2/26: 0.5", 3/4: 2.0", Flakes: 1/11, 1/16)
