Good work @Meatyorologist   I have to admit, it feels weird sitting on the sidelines for this run analyzing various 500mb, 850mb loops. I do see the block and arctic trough are a notch east from previous runs.

That site is way too aggressive with the rain/snow line for some reason. Same frame on Tropical Tidbits.

It’s still crap. That “snow” is going to be cold rain with splats in Vancouver. 925 mbar temp at that time is modelled to be 0˚C. And it will be +1˚C at Olympia, no snow for them either.

We had measurable snow on the ground on 36 of 38 days between December 9th and January 15th that year. There were 6 days in that stretch with a low above freezing, with the warmest being 37°. I imagine a little further up the lower valley, like maybe Chiliwack, had snow on the ground all 38 days.
