That same monthly departure at SEA would translate to an average temperature of 12F in November. Or 8F in January or 9F in February. January 1950 was "only" 18F below the current 30 year average at SEA.

Y'all remember this Druncle troll map from Halloween?  Lol, that was awesome

Corvallis and Eugene are the only two places it didn’t give snow and they’re also two of the only places South of BC that did. 😅

Close but I have to go with December 2008…Only because we basically had major snow events up here every other day for two weeks straight, I don’t believe we went above freezing at all, and I had a low of -3.
What I did love about February (into March) 2019 was that I had snow on the ground for nearly 7 weeks straight!

Taxes are higher on this side of the border, but not terribly so IMO, and it cuts both ways (health care costs A LOT less, in part due to those higher taxes). Gas is around $2 CAD / litre which if I do my math right works out to $5.67 USD / gallon. More expensive, but not $7/gallon expensive.

A big part of the reason why so many Canadians shop in Bellingham is simply the selection. A lot of US brands and chains are missing in Canada. The Bellingham Trader Joe's has the best sales per square foot of any Trader Joe's store, because there are no TJ's in Canada.

I heard the Bellingham Costco sold the most milk than any other in the country because of the Canadians crossing the border for our sweet sweet cheap subsidized milk.

How many subfreezing highs did you have in 2019?

Portland obviously 2008 was better but 2019 was not bad too. We had 4" of snow in 2019 which is still pretty good. Looks like around 25" of snow in 2008 though but I didn't live here.

Dec 08 was my favorite since it lead up to Christmas.  I woke up to a foot of new snow Christmas morning with power out due to so much snow.  Had to fire up the generator before getting a chance to open presents.

At my location the comparison between 2019 and 2008 is tough, one I wasn’t up here then. I believe February 2019

was actually slightly colder overall. A couple of the events from December 2008 though we’re probably bigger, total snow fall similar, 32” depth at silver falls in 08’ though. We only got to 25” in 2019.

Some of the East Indians bath in milk as part of their religious beliefs.  There is a very large East Indian population in lower BC (in Whatcom County as well for that matter).  I barely go to Costco any more, but when I was there more frequently you would see East Indian families with cartloads of milk.  There was a video on you tube at one point that showed a pallet of milk getting picked clean in about a minute or 2.  It was posted....8?  maybe 10 years ago?

YES! The heavy snow falling Christmas morning was perfection and reminded me of Christmas morning 1990! I had heavy snow falling the morning of Dec 26th 2021…Just one day off!

I've noticed that and had no idea it was due to religious practices.

Places getting a little warmer than expected has nothing to do with “high” early November sun angles. The airmass just isn’t that cold.

Most of February 2019 had higher sun angles than today.

It's a very nice 40 with a breeze and some decent gusts here right now, but I prefer the rain.  It's November.

The Puget Sound region certainly benefitted from the shallow flow of cold air coming out of BC.  Low 40s for max temps while places like Hoquiam and points further south in the interior made 50 or so.

Currently sitting at a very crisp 41 here with crystal clear skies.

The north wind was deliciously crisp today.  The cold air over southern BC really helped keep the temp down very nicely.

Should get down into the mid 30s before midnight…but overall the temps  aren’t really anything too crazy unless we get into the 20s the next few nights. We pulled off a 42/30 on 11/9/2020…42/33 on 11/9/2018 and also a 39/32 on 11/5/2017…so not really that crazy.

Still pretty decent for this early though.  It will get well below freezing in a number of places.

The cold in BC was pretty epic for this early.  Too bad the block wasn't just slightly further east.

Felt and looked like winter for sure today. Really strong chilly north winds and snow down into the foothills in the cascades and Olympics on display. Waves have really been rolling here on the sound too.
