Looks like PDX topped out at 52, about in line with what I was thinking. Meanwhile a DEVASTATING 55 at SLE.

Totally wimpy.  PDX got owned by SEA today.

Felt and looked like winter for sure today. Really strong chilly north winds and snow down into the foothills in the cascades and Olympics on display. Waves have really been rolling here on the sound too.

I love these cold north wind days.

Winds are strongest I’ve seen since the start of this event, and of course this is when the zipper on my heavy jacket decides to crap out on me.

Off to REI to get a new coat!

I think we’re colder than them down here too. 🙏🏻 45F and pleasant with cloudy conditions. Nice smoke on the porch.

Some of the East Indians bath in milk as part of their religious beliefs.  There is a very large East Indian population in lower BC (in Whatcom County as well for that matter).  I barely go to Costco any more, but when I was there more frequently you would see East Indian families with cartloads of milk.  There was a video on you tube at one point that showed a pallet of milk getting picked clean in about a minute or 2.  It was posted....8?  maybe 10 years ago?

Seen it many times. I always assumed that was people who owned small stores up in BC and were reselling the milk!

The Puget Sound region certainly benefitted from the shallow flow of cold air coming out of BC.  Low 40s for max temps while places like Hoquiam and points further south in the interior made 50 or so.

Currently sitting at a very crisp 41 here with crystal clear skies.

Looks like some places are already in the upper 30s now, their coldest for the day.

Should be well below freezing by midnight in outlying locations.

Wind is raging here from the north at a steady 25-35 mph, humidity still rising.  Hoping we can get a snow band to set up.....it's a long shot but c'mon!!!!!

It’s been lightly snowing here for a couple hours. Dirt is white and grass is starting to turn white as well.

Who's ready for 00z runs tonight? This is the start of something very mundane, dull, and bland. The start of reduced enthusiasm when model riding, and no more glee from posting snowy maps from Hour 364. Oh yes my friends, together we can trudge through the next 7-10 days while trying to stay awake as the GFS and ECMWF send us into a Fall slumber. It's a good time to find a puzzle, go for a walk, a hike, or invent new hobbies. I can't think of any at the moment.

But really. The ECMWF Ensembles that ridge placement is mighty close to not only pull cold air at times into eastern Washington and the Columbia Basin, but if it migrates just a bit further west we would see a major backdoor blast. C'MON!!!!

00z GFS in 1 hour 15 minutes
00z ECMWF in 3 hours 25 minutes

why is CMCE model just showing snow bruh go and look at it

It's an ensemble mean, there are probably a few outlier members showing some snow so the mean goes up slightly. Snow doesn't really seem likely right now

Think I will be just a little too north.  Wind is still raging and temp/dp and barometric pressure are all staying steady though.  Looks like that last push is trying get here but we will see.  Tripcheck shows the snow stopping at Cooley rd. at the moment.

KSEA held at 43F today... By the feel of it the rest of the city did quite similarly. Morning low of 36F could be surpassed in the coming hours before midnight. Looks like a subfreezing low is in the works...brilliantly clear out there.

Tomorrow should stay similarly cold, with highs struggling to reach 45F. Great for this time of year.
