SNOWING! here now

Taking a break from my Christmas Tree decoration.  Wow, that's crazy impressive.  This system is delivering the good stuff.  That snow won't melt away by Wed when the arctic air hits.  BTW, I drove through Davenport on the way to AZ and I can only imagine how beautiful it looks with the rolling hills and coming across the Mississippi River.  #Awesomeness

It seems like LOT has updated totals every 12 hrs with this storm system...here's the latest...TBH, I'm speechless how much this thing has over-performed...

Edit the title - WSWarning in multiple CWAs. Surprise is key word. Looks like @ 700 mb is loses something over my way thus no headlines east of LOT, Idk?

I think S MI area will have an advisory or maybe warning issued (depending if the heavier banding persists).  The trough swinging through is slightly becoming neg tilted and resulting in increased snow intensities.  It doesn't look to break down heading your way.

Upward motion from a 150kt jet is the resulting of such a dynamic solution that is producing these high snowfall amounts...

Something to consider for next week's complex system.  Here is the current jet stream forecast...

My 4.2 inches of snow melted down to 0.63" from gauge catch and 0.65" from the core sample on the snow board.  This system was juiced.  It was fun to watch the snow fall during daylight, but it is a total slop fest out there.  I hate cleaning up after these kind of events.

MI offices go with SWS's. Playing the grassy surfs card while they can I guess before real arctic air is around. Funny as it starts sticking on my street right after dark as expected. GRR did say 3-4 down my way, so SWS makes sense - sarc

This snow reminds me of the systems we had last year...heavy and wet! I measured just over 5" on the roof of my car and about that on my deck. Slop fest on the sidewalks/driveway. I'm sure it will settle some more by tomorrow. Not a bad way to kick off met Winter with a pretty sizeable snowfall region wide!

Was just out with my daughter who got her very 1st taste of winter driving conditions. Roads are horrible, even the x-ways. Can't believe this wasn't a WWA down here along 94.

Congrats on the snows everyone!

Thanks man! You'll get yours soon enough

How much do you have so far???  Ya, I'm shocked they didn't issue a WWA, esp being the first real accumulating snowfall of the season.
