Despite it being above freezing, the roads are in bad shape. Just had a plow slide down a hill into my neighbors yard.

Getting dicey out there now. Steady freezing rain has made the sidewalk and driveway super slick. SE side of the metro getting a nice hit while the NW metro won't see anything.

Been around 32/33 here but still really bad.

 

Milwaukee re-issued the WWA because pavement temps are still below 32. Luckily it looks like the rain should be pretty much over with.

Air temp doesn't matter that much. Surface/road temps is what matters.

Roads are closed all over in eastern wi with semis jackknifed and stuck on hills

 

All major school districts are closed also (fondy, Oshkosh, Sheboygan, Green Bay)

 

Even though air temp is 34 everything is a sheet of ice

I was wondering why my back yard had so much standing water...NWS issued a Flood Warning for Cook, DuPage and Will counties early this morning when that heavy comma shaped feature went through last night.  On radar, it looked pretty impressive:

SO much lightning and thunder in Marshall this morning causing street flooding. I don't think we had that all of last spring & summer tbh. Mid-winter wx.

My area in general has had between 1.0-1.25" of rain from this system  For January standards, that is impressive...wait, we have a La Nina/Nino???  Make up your mind Mother Nature!  There were some big boomers here as well....January thunderstorms...

We were forecast to drop into the mid 20s last night and it was 26 when I woke up. That being said, the rain here ended pretty early yesterday so the roads had a decent chance to melt and dry so I was surprised at them canceling. They announced it at like 1p too which is VERY early. I guess the mayor was pressuring them to make a decision earlier so they would know how they had to treat the roads for the buses.

Disgusting freezing rain fell yesterday which iced up everything. Currently above freezing with dense fog. Amazingly, my grass is pure green, even in janaury. Parts of Greece has had more snow than SEMI so far.

Half inch of liquid equiv. fell with temps around 30 all night. Still about a foot of concrete snow otg.

Well, with the ice storm officially over I can report I received .90" of liquid and up to .50" of ice accretion. The power remained for me throughout the storm but there was some minor tree damage around town. Here are some pics I snapped yesterday.
