GFS sticking to it's guns with the Portland snow event on Sunday... in sharp contrast to the ECMWF which has been lifting it farther north with every run but showing most of the snow from the Cascade crest eastward.    No idea what will happen.

Just got about 1/4 of an inch--doubling my snow total on the ground.  Snowing lightly.  31 degrees.

On my end of town, didn't get much from the last even due to the temp gradient--my house literally rode the snowline.   But as you go toward Hood Canal--which is only 5 miles from me--you get a lot more snow.  Bangor has about 6 inches.  Even Walmart, across town, has about 4 inches still.

Feels like it's gonna be a loooong winter of disappointments and surprises.

I sure am hoping this is the trend for the season here. Not very often do we get multiple shots in a row getting snow like this.  I feel like I’m living in the high county waking up to snow every day now 😀

Based on the euro vs gfs for 925mb temps later today…I’m thinking the main event today will likely be this morning. Some more precip moving in from the SW right now so more snow possible. Could get some tonight but I think this morning May end up more impressive for areas along I-5.

Snapped this in Silverton today. Nice unexpected snowfall from a random shower yesterday. Doesn't take much, just have to have the cold air in play. That's the most important piece. Apparently they have now closed school for the day at my daughters school instead of just a 2 hour delay. Ridiculous and already her 3rd snow day of the year.

No description available.

I would say that's crazy but that's the PNW lowlands for ya! That white stuff is scary!😂

Remember what Happened Tuesday? even if you switch to a mix this afternoon if you get heavier bands it will switch back to snow. The snow level is really low the entire event. Even 200 ft above sea level will be a big difference today.

It is. Her school is about a mile from our house at a similar elevation. But the main schools are down in town at around 200'. Sometimes the delays and closures only impact her school, and the other high elevation outlying school on the other side of the State Park, but it looks like the closed the entire district today. 😆

I am partially trying to pull at Chris and reverse psychology this. We will see what happens I’m already more than happy with what we’ve gotten so far today and more snow will probably fall in less than an hour. Still 31 degrees out. The DPs are in our favor.

What do you expect for the Alderbrook area?  Think it will stay snow at sea level or change to rain at some point?
