Interesting to see how temps rose through the night in the puget sound area and dropped quickly once skies cleared down this way. Looks like EUG once again got into the 20s, as we did here too.

We only made it down to 36F and are still in the southerlies. Weird.

Currently 41F and partly cloudy.

Good morning! I hope everyone is enjoying their snow! Not too much here. Nothing accumulated under the trees where I am, but if I look past them to the apartments beyond, I can see a nice coating of snow!

I'm headed up to Bothell this morning for my sister-in-law's baby shower (my first niece! ❤️ ), hoping the side roads aren't too bad in the Canyon Park area. But I can enjoy their heavier snowfall for a bit!

My brother, conversely, said their dog hates it! 😂 To be fair, though, she's a very short-haired American Bully (a newer pitbull breed), who was adopted from one of those programs that ships dogs up from overcrowded kennels in Texas, so she's not really used to this kind of whether, nor is she built for it. 😂

Haha yeah that tends to be the case with those breed types…I have noticed they are not fans of snow/cold! The dogs (short coats anyway) I transfer in from Texas and Hawaii always look miserably cold when they first get here during the winter months lol! (I work at a rescue/shelter that only transfers in dogs and cats from overcrowded shelters around the state and country)

That's fantastic! I know quite a few people who've adopted from programs like that recently. ❤️ They're slowly getting her used to wearing dog clothing. They've got a rain poncho for her that they're using now, but after the last week, they may need to work towards some kind of sweater to help her out over the winter, especially if these cold snaps are going to stick around (I'm trying to will it into existence here!)

Looks good for 15!🥰

We lost our eight year old to a sudden heart attack last month and it’s been rough around here.

Argh that sucks so much. Too soon 😞

Ellie just keeps on trucking, she has slowed down from her extreme speed and energy (see pic with the tri color in the distance doing the BC outrunning, that was her in the day) but she is still more than willing to run and play and harass my moms Shepherd! We adopted her about 7 months after the great December 2008 extravaganza! She was already 2yrs old when we got her.

Still doesn't really get there for Portland... but should be some snow tomorrow and tomorrow night.

Still a bit warm and quite a bit drier than GEM and GFS. That area just north of PDX has 0.40 in qpf though so models are at least starting to come into some better agreement. The last 4 euro runs are still clear improvements even if they are baby steps.

Is there really enough precip to wet bulb though? Feels like we would use up all of the moisture just to get cold enough for snow.

The problem is more the precip than the temp on the euro. Need the steady and heavier rates shown on the GFS and GEM. .10-.20 in qpf will not get the job done tomorrow even with the east wind.

Yeah the dewpoints look pretty low. Maybe we'll get some convergence with the east wind here or something to get more precip. Maybe if we're really lucky we get a surprise 1"+ of precip like the 06z GFS showed and steady moderate snow!sfctd.us_nw.png

Nine years since our last significant regional arctic airmass. Unbelievable. We’ve had a lot of snow since then, but the cold has been lacking. Severely.

Much more to the south, though. Let's not forget that SEA saw 5 sub-freezing highs last December, including 3 in a row in the 20s. That is not common historically.

Woke up at 3:00 this morning to watch the snow only to see rain at 32.0 and only measly 2 inches of sloppy snow.

such a letdown.

It all comes down to expectations.  I had a little bit less than you, but had expected nothing going into it so I'm pretty happy.  I thought your area would do better too.

On the official CF6 they only had 0.3" shown for yesterday which seems suspect to me.

Ended up with 1.4" of actual accumulation last night, but could have easily had an extra inch if the snow hadn't gotten so wet.
