Wow!  Big stuff is coming I think.  Good chance the big stuff will get here before the month is over.

Yeah it does, but still more of a glancing blow. The upper level pattern never quite gets there. But the GFS advects a ton of cold air in regardless...

If you check surface level, there is an artic front with tight pressure gradients.

38/32 on the day.
Currently 38. 🤢☹️

.02” of drizzle and chunks.
.45” for the month.
48.99” for the year.

The muck finally got to you.  That's why I was so bummed the other day.  This crap got here two days before it made it another 30 miles north.

It really is disgusting. Sunday morning was amazing and I wish it would have been just like that all week.

Storms are going to be suppressed with those above normal heights dominating 45 to 60N.  I have no problem with dry BTW.  It will be cold.

I see Spokane is reporting 23 with freezing drizzle and 1/4 mi visibility. Sounds lovely.

This is why I'm so fond of continental air.  It first really hit me in the winter 1984-85 when we had a few inches of freshly fallen muck on the ground and then an Arctic front came through and turned the drippy mess into a winter wonderland.

I'm not surprised it's quiet on here tonight.  Post snow blues and people just recovering after the last week of craziness.  More fun is coming though.

I really do want to have a place out that way someday. Either part time or full time. Wildfire risk is the only thing that would make me hesitate a little.

Bear in mind if we have an inversion during week two it will be coming after a shot of legit cold.  Those are the best ones.

The cold has been epic over there so far this season.  Already a huge number of sub freezing highs and sub zero lows.  Could be a huge winter for them if January actually does pan out.

For the Willamette Valley thats lows in the mid-upper 20s. Nothing earth shattering, but it will feel like winter.

GFS meteograms show the warmest max for SEA over the next 15 days will only be 42.  That's flat out impressive if it happens.  Especially after all of the cold we've already had the past 5 or 6 weeks.

Pretty good for what may be one of the more unimpressive parts of the winter.

Just read the last few pages.   Something big is happening within the next few weeks (Christmas?).  The details are murky at best but all of the ingredients are there.  Alaskan ridge, SE ridge, frigid temps in BC, Tim is complaining, Jim is complaining, Rob has at least 10 c'mon's today, and Olive is still saying weird things (puberty posts?).

It's gonna happen. I'm off to bed, have fun night shift.

Cold waves get watered down father out because there are still some warm memebers.

Good point. Here is a good example of what a solid low level cold wave can look like in the WV.
