Snowiest Christmas Day in history at Shawnigan Lake was in 1937 with 26”. There was likely a good 3ft on the ground. Must have been a sharp cutoff that year.

1937 is Portland's snowiest Christmas Day on record with a whopping 1.3" of slop.  Fun pattern that week though with a massive snow infused AR a few days later.

Bellingham had a legit snowstorm last year in 12/25. Started snowing in the morning and snowed all day. 8-12” county wide I think.

Came a little later down here. We had a couple of inches for Christmas Day but the big stuff came that night into the 26th.
And here is my current snow situation. Looking bleak. Feels like a heatwave at 42 degrees. 🤮

No snow here last Christmas until some wet flakes in the late evening. Then things dried out and bitter subfreezing onshore flow took us to 31F at midnight.

Boxing day morning around 4am that powerful Arctic front with 2-4"/hr snowfall rates slammed into my area dumping half a foot in a little over two hours. Spent the rest of the day on either side of 20F with intermittent snow and a bitter NNW wind. Definitely the best Arctic snap of my life.

Based on the Seattle NWS tweet... they were not hyping it.   I stand corrected.

Not as impressive as PDX having their hottest week on record at the end of July… Ever, not just some cherry picked dates.

Something brewing?

I think the "higher resolution ensembles" enhancement still only spans the first 6 days. I believe after that the EC ensembles still aren't high enough resolution to account for the Cascade mountain range very well. i.e. they still tend to drop into cold abyss after the first week. With that in mind, the long range mean actually looks kinda warm!

EDIT - only just realized this fcst was for Eugene...

A little detail but I've noticed most active members here have joined in the winter while others in the fall. I can't be the only summer baby, right? 🥲☀️
