PNW December 2022, winter might be coming; but mostly canceled.

There is another large area of enhanced precip moving up towards Olympia now... if it extends east like the last band it could be pretty crazy for several more hours.

Noticed this as well, luckily in Seattle every time it looks like it will lighten up the radar keeps backfilling and intensifying right over us. Hopefully that will continue when the heavier band gets up here.

Going to bed, as I am getting up early for Netherlands v USA. I have about .4”. Snow accumulating fairly slowly. Soupy is a great way to describe the arterial roads, or any surface with drainage. If it keeps doing this through the AM, I’ll probably have 1.5-2” of slush.

Wow... somehow we have no wind and absolutely nothing falling here.  You would not know anything is going on around us.    I think of your location being similar to my area but I am learning now that we can wildly different weather depending on the situation.

I'm pretty shocked. I'd imagine we'd have similar weather, with you having better accumulation thanks to added elevation. Or at the very least you could have some of this pass wind lol

I suppose it doesn't matter in the moment but NAM is drastically improved for much of the Sound by a significant margin. Of course, it is also much worse down here for the Sunday system just to rub salt in the wound 🙄

I'm a little confused on why so many people are surprised we have snow. Offshore flow in a chilly airmass almost always delivers.

I'm just talking about my specific location.  Even the final snow of Feb 2019 was mostly freezing rain here.   For some reason the cold is deeper than usual here in this case.

Same here. If this continues all night we may end up with 3-5 inches.

I am tickled pink with how this week has worked out for us.

I truly believe this is going to be a winter to remember.  There are more snow chances over the next week it looks like.

It's hard to believe some of those pics when all I'm getting is 34° rain in Marysville 😔

When driving home from Omak it was snow from the pass all the way to I-5. Then between North Everett and Smokey Point it was just plain rain, started switching back just north of the Arlington (210 exit) area, then all snow at my exit (215)

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

It's interesting that you're colder than me but haven't been seeing any snowflakes. I started seeing them at 39F and now at 36F I would say it's 90% snow out there. And yeah, I'm on the northeastern edge of that band. It's not particularly heavy (I've picked up 0.05" of precip so far), but hoping that it keeps up for a while longer.

Maybe still some warm air aloft here, even with the outflow is cutting through at the surface. Currently 33.6F and it's still mostly rain, though I've seen a few flakes in the mix.

I'd love to see a system like tonight overrun a true arctic airmass in place. Tonight would have  been a widespread 6-12 inches easy with high snow to water ratio. It is probably 6-1 ratio tonight.

A lot of the snow this week has been like 6-1 ratio roughly. I’ve seen some very very heavy snowfall several times this week but still be unable to really stick on the roads for very long if at all. It’s been an awesome week though!

How much snow have you had so far this week Randy?

About 3” I would say! Haven’t seen my grass since Sunday evening.

And no huge warm up any time soon.  I'm very confident there will be more chances of snow the next 2 weeks.

I've been stuck around 35F now for about an hour, but it's almost all snow and the radar is looking a little better. Probably still need it to drop another degree or two to really see any accumulation.
