I’ve had snow falling and/or on the ground on 6 of the last 10 Christmas days. Seems like we’ve had a lot of winter weather focussed around the holiday’s lately.

Yeah it’s been a great stretch!

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Seems like the odds are getting better by the day.

Indeed. Seattle had the snow storm the day after Christmas last year and a very solid snow event Christmas Eve of 2017 I believe it was.

We are actually due for something 'big' on Christmas day.

"The most that’s ever fallen in Seattle on Christmas Day was 1.18 inches, in 1909, he said. That was measured at the Federal Building downtown. An inch fell on Christmas in 1965, according to the NWS."

I could go for 6-12 inches, most of it in the morning. I had snow Christmas morning 2008 and 2017.

We got buried from a CZ that setup in 08. It was fun but waking up to a 40 degree house due to a power outage from the weight of the snow I could do without, especially since now, I don't have a generator to deal with it lol.

I woke up to the same situation, I lived in Woodinville in Saybrook. Closer to Duvall, at 500ft. I was eight!

That's a weird 500mb pattern for an arctic outbreak. Is what the EPS control run showing similar to February 2021 in some ways? I'm not sure though.

That's pretty wild. Can't think of another stretch where any lowland location would have seen 4 white Christmases in such a short period.

Even during the heydey of the 1950s, snowfall generally avoided Christmastime. The price you pay for glorious Januaries I guess!

Haven’t had a white Christmas since 1990 so this would be very nice!

We came VERY close last year. The snow started falling at like 12:30AM on Boxing Day. Ended up with 10” so one would think that favorable setup might happen again.

Snowiest Christmas Day in history at Shawnigan Lake was in 1937 with 26”. There was likely a good 3ft on the ground. Must have been a sharp cutoff that year.

Would be amazing. We're definitely due for a top tier Arctic outbreak in the lower 48 during the 12/15-1/15 period.

2008…The king of White Christmas’s! Heavy snow falling that morning was epic with a few feet on the ground. Followed closely by Christmas 1990 with about a foot and a half on the ground with heavy snowfall that am!

18z NAM Kuchera snowfall for Fri night. 4 run trend. (Snow depth much less in other models, but NAM's snow depth chart can't be used because it carries over snow already on the ground today). Anyway, like the other models, NAM looks to add about 0.5 to 0.9 snow depth with this very warm event Friday night.

it showed a dust storm.

My son was playing Horizon 5 and there was a dust storm on the horizon in the game.  I asked him, "do you know what they call those" and he replied "dust storm."  I told them they were called Haboobs and he couldn't stop laughing.

I really need the regime to switch back to the normal 43 degree rain.  I am spending way too much time here reading.  Way too much time.  A couple days ago, when we were actively tracking the event, I forgot to eat dinner.

I took a few days off, and have only been lightly pursuing this week.  This weekend looks like last weekend. Snow will be close, but looks like we get missed again.  It will get here eventually.

Last several runs keep getting colder in the longer range. Lots more cold members now.

Something brewing?
