PNW December 2022, winter might be coming; but mostly canceled.

This would have been a lovely setup…clear cold night, clouds increase at daybreak capping much in the way of warming. Too bad the moisture won’t make it up here.

Classic NWS Portland to issue a WWA for almost all of its CWA.

NWS Spokane was conservative and issued some yesterday, hours after Pendleton but they hedged their bets with the AFD. They had one around 2:30 or so yesterday afternoon and had NO AFD until 6:30am when they usually have one about 10pm and another at 3 or 4am the next day.

Classic NWS Pdx to issue the wwa and then seemingly contradict it with a tweet within an hour.

Where it’s nice and cold, there is no moisture. Where there is moisture, it’s too warm for snow. Classic story.

At least I’m going to get another clear day with snow on the ground out of it.

I have a wireless charger that will keep my laptop charged for 24 hours, and another backup in the garage that will do the same.  If we lose power I can just stream it all.  I hate technology most of the time but it has its advantages.

How much do you have now before the main event?

Despite having no snow the heavy frost adds a nice wintry trim to things.  I hope all you southerners get a good helping of snow today!  26 after a low of 23.5

Well bless your heart.

I went shopping up in Moscow, ID yesterday for Christmas and while of course the main roads have long since been plowed, the hills and mountains covered in snow were incredible to see. If my six year old wasn't with me I would have stopped for photos. The palouse is beautiful this time of year.

Hard to tell by the picture, but the clouds to the south sure do look dark and snowy like…If I didn’t have access to anything forecast wise I would be getting super excited right now. Temp down to 25.9

Kind of a lame GFS run.

It shows 6 feet of snow at Snoqualmie Pass over the next 10 days.    That would be pretty nice.

But I guess we are now in a situation where any GFS run that does not show 3 feet of snow in Seattle and Portland has to be considered lame.

This winter is a bust without a regional

arctic blast. We are way over do. Go big or go home.

Legit snow now looks like a snow globe outside!

Nice... it has to be a good sign that you have genuine snow with such dry air in place in your area and while PDX is at 41.
