24F here and steadily dropping. 

Easterlies are strengthening, DP down to 8F at HIO with a temp of 25F and gusting close to 20mph now for the first time today. Should continue to ramp up. Lot more advecting to be done.

Is it possible, in this day and age, and with this much sophistication of models, can something like tomorrow go totally wrong, and drop 12 inches of snow and never turn to rain?

~31.5 here with my non digital thermometer. That's like a 3 degree drop in the last 45 minutes. This might happen.

Yes. Nature is still the boss and I have seen these models fail at close events in all sorts of ways.

Just looked at the 00z Euro. 

Actually not that much precip through Friday evening for PDX. The front looks pretty weak and yet the euro has parts of the PDX metro above freezing by late Friday evening. History tells us this would be very unlikely. I suspect the euro will be significantly off with this. I think its really underestimating the tenacity of the low level cold and the ability of the gorge to keep flooding the valley with cold air. I could maybe believe this with a very strong front coming through but that isn't what this shows.

Looks like the first west side negatives of the event are up the North Fork Nooksack Valley along the Mount Baker Highway in Whatcom County. There's a number of personal weather stations reading -1F or -2F in Glacier and Maple Falls.
