Trying to learn that area more. How can that be when corbett is 15 degrees?

I dont see how portland wont continue to drop to 18 or 19?

It’s possible they make it. I’m just assuming they will underperform. It’s nothing about this particular area since most of the metro is in the upper teens right now, which makes sense given the airmass. It’s just that particular station/location tends to run warm and sometimes defies logic just a bit.

Snow is blowing off the trees like crazy now. Usually we do not get much of the east winds here but we are right now. Can’t tell if it’s easterly or northeasterly. Anyway the dusting on my back window was all from the trees and blowing around the yard. And the drive to work I was driving through tree snowfall tunnels lol!
16.2 degrees when I left the house a few minutes ago. Feels like I am in Omak and not east Stanwood right now lol

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Looks like Silver Falls hit 20 on their 8:30 ob. The highway sensor at the viewpoint, not the official obs for the park.

Pretty intense easterly gradient at the moment with a whopping 14.4 PDX-DLS. Definitely think this established cold air is sticking around for longer than models think

My guess would be most of that is phantom snow, but if it’s cold enough for the GooFuS to predict 36-degree phantom snow, it’s cold enough for real snow in the mountains.

Pretty awesome thread from the Missoula NWS. The tech of GOES17 is amazing! Looks like several areas were darn near close to -60!

Bucket list item!! But as someone who has never been in subzero weather (0F in the Gorge in Dec 2008 is my record) I could not imagine tolerating -40F weather. But I'll try one day for sure!

Also good on uploading the video correctly, it's an embedded media artifact, not just an attached file 👍

Just pondering past storms especially in PDX.   So many times these storms fell apart as they approached PDX.  Moisture was never able to reach the ground because of the dry air mass.   Is their a chance this one might do the same?  I don’t remember the variable involved back in the day but it seemed to happen a lot.

Chris's comment that I pinned is actually coming in pretty handy this morning.

Since it's a copied and pasted image, it is constantly being updated to what it shows on the NWS mesoanalysis website. It's essentially a live tracker as Chris intended, great idea.

I have been thinking this for days.

I remember a snowfall 20 years ago that was a warm front coming into a strong offshore flow like this only it was not even cold but it cooled the layer and dumped 10 inches of snow. Forecast was rain and 40 degrees.

I always struggle with the best way to upload videos here so I'm glad to hear this way is the best way!

She once showed a picture of her house from the outside.  Beautiful home.   I warned her, though, to not share that picture too much or Hallmark will come knocking at her door wanting to film a Christmas movie there.

I’ll play the single guy in the movie 😱 and get to enjoy that beautiful area!
