I went down to North Bend and the wind down there is pretty crazy... compared to the relatively calm conditions up here.   Lots of blowing snow and the roads are a shiny sheet of compacted snow that has turned to ice from the wind and traffic.   There are places where you can't go more than 5 mph on a road that is completely flat or you will start sliding.

It’s been pretty wild. My yard is completely littered with branches. Shocked we haven’t lost power.

North Bend can handle the east wind without many problems.    Ice is an entirely different story though.

The precip over North Seattle that looked like it was just virga seems to have darkened into green a bit. Anyone seeing anything there, or is it phantom snow?

I went under a green blob (according to UW radar), but nothing falling.

I don't see anything outside and RadarScope isn't picking it up, so it's probably virga.

Switch to CASAG on RadarScope. That picks up super light stuff in the central sound way better for some reason, and must be what NWS integrates into their combo radar map.

Nothing reaching the ground, but the clouds look thicker.

Darker green patches are right over me on that return but I don't have any visible precip.  Definitely darkening clouds though.

It's so hard to know what the moisture will be. Every situation is different. Part of the reason that we had so much snow in 2008 was because the storm was supposed to turn to freezing rain but it flipped back to snow. I have been praying it won't be freezing rain. It would make things so much better.
