Someone have a EURO peak gust map for the latest run? If that's showing gusts 50-55 I think we can all be a bit more "on board".

Wind is a bit more subdued now but still quite a bit of heavy rain. Currently 59F.

I would almost count on this storm being stronger than expected. It's just deeper and stronger so far than models have shown for the most part

A buoy near the center of the low stopped reporting at 9:20pm, but it's last observation was 967.4mb. Deeper than most models have shown. This could be a solid windstorm.

Absolutely would think even at face value 45-60 looks like a good bet throughout the WV and at least parts of the PS.

That seems accurate. NWS hid 60 gust possible at the end of the Wind advisory for SEA

Just unloaded at the cabin and first beer is chilling!  Pliny the Elder from Russian River Brewery.  Unfortunately the youngest puked in the back seat of the truck as we were pulling in.  Fire is lit in the wood stove and getting ready to relax.  Snowing moderately with 26 inches on the patio. I'll go measure a few other locations tomorrow on the property.  Low temp was negative 23 on 12/22.  The weather station by the window shows the low temp inside by the window was 50. I keep the floor heat set at 55 so not bad.

Airport has seen some 35mph gusts. Fastest one here in town so far was 24mph.

Those wind field maps of the strait are a bit deceptive. Every storm so far where there is a dead zone over the Snohomish river valley still get the southerly shift and then the four hour wind wave that blasts in from Whidby.

Somewhat funny-- the NWS forecasts for Seattle and Portland are similar-- yet NWS Portland refuses to (unlike Seattle) pull the trigger on a HWW.

Based on the gradient likely between Seattle and Portland this afternoon…the potential for the strongest windstorm in several years is definitely there.

How about all this rain?   SEA is at 6.62 inches for December... normal is 5.72 inches.

Should go over 40 inches for 2022 by tomorrow making it another wet calendar year despite recording setting drought for 5 months in the middle.   Pretty amazing.   

Also should be wetter than normal for the new water year by tomorrow as well.    Making up lots of ground this week.

That is sooooo much better than the complete mess down there just 48 hours ago.    You couldn't even walk in that gas station parking lot over the weekend... it was a solid sheet of ice.  

Side note... our neighbor has owned that gas station for several decades.   He also sponsors the fireworks show in the summer.   He and his wife were born and raised in North Bend and they are in their 70s now.   They started spending winters in Hawaii about 5 years ago.   I bet I could make them homesick if I sent them this pic.

Big trees down and it’s blowing here in Sacramento. Trying to get gas but sky lit up and power went out.  Ugh….few minutes later power restored and now awaiting pump to reboot

Yep, just drove into Olympia, 510 is covered in tree debris with standing water in places. Very slow going.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it was just breezy up there. The lows track isn’t really favorable for strong winds in the NW interior. Comes in right over the top of NW WA and the highest winds are going to be to the south of the low.

Guess the westerly surge down to the strait is no longer happening. Too bad.
