I've got so much nervous energy waiting for this thing to kick off. The sky looks heavy, the radar looks busy, and the weather apps are doing their thing, giving us snow icons across the board. But nary a flake yet. It's maddening.

No mPING reports showing up on RadarScope either, which is super odd.

Sounds like HWY 22 is closed east of

Detroit Lake now and HWY 99W south of McMinnville.

How does sleet get tracked in the weather books at nws? We have a record history for sleet correct?

It shows over 1 inch here. In 20 years I have had a total of a trace of sleet and no freezing rain

This might be the first time an overrunning system was coming in while we were in the low 20s and we were all still worried about whether or not it's going to fall as snow. Fascinating learning experience in real time.

Great point. In all my years living in and then following the weather in the PNW, I can't think of a comparable situation.

I guess if Dec 1968 and Dec 1983 are the roided up versions of this for the PNW, maybe we can expect a slightly toned down version of what happened those years?

Yea, normally we are at 28-30 or so waiting for this and wondering what's going to happen. I'm not sure it makes a difference in what the outcome will be, but I just wanted to point it out because it feels so odd. I can't think of any other time where low to mid 20s wasn't a guaranteed lock for incoming major snow event.
