How was the food there?

It was really good. We had some traditional food but even the regular stuff has an Icelandic spin on it. They eat lots of lamb there as well as fish. Tried some cured salmon but unfortunately never got a chance to try the fermented shark. They also have an obsession with black licorice, including putting very harsh tasting black licorice powder on some of the candy. We all thought it was disgusting but apparently it’s really popular in Nordic countries. Must be an acquired taste.

Decent breeze out there... for about 30 minutes SEA recorded some good sustainable gusts.

52,46, 45, 53, 37, 37, 54 between 8:25 and 8:40. About an hour before that:  36, 41, 38, 38, 44, 37, 31.

It was quite gusty at home as well, rocked the house and woke me up at about 7AM.

Was the salmon really salty? I have had shark like that and it was really good even though it sounds gross.

Yeah I have a decent tolerance for stuff like that too. It was pretty salty, also came with roe, some pickled veggies and a nice sauce.

Not a surprise... but the GEFS is coming around to the idea of a western ridge in the long range like the EPS has been consistently showing.

We have power here!    It goes out so infrequently in our area overall... the last couple of weeks notwithstanding.

I just can’t do it. Especially the really concentrated powdered coating. I never really liked black licorice period though so I guess it isn’t too surprising.

February looking chilly across the whole country now, on the CFS monthly. Would make sense to see some kind of reversal.

Without question one of the nastiest things I have ever tasted. And I usually like strong and unusual flavors.

I know, how’s this for an idea: Let’s make a candy, but let’s use salt and ammonia* instead of sugar. It’s a salt and ammonia “candy.” Brilliant!

Yes, really, they often put ammonium chloride (sal ammoniac) in it as well as normal table salt. It reacts with your saliva to make ammonia water. Tastes just like you’ve taken a swig of Windex or Mr. Clean. Yummy!

It's called clown range for a reason.

Same here.    It seems to be more fragile after the ice storm and windstorm.    Every time the wind blows it starts flickering now.

Yeah. Starting to flicker again now. At my house, it's pretty windy but down the hill, there is barely a breeze

No change on at the end of the 12Z EPS run... pretty sure there will be a period of western ridging before any meaningful retrogression.   Early February!

Early February 2014 would be great! 6-18" of snow throughout the Willamette Valley. I had around 10" and a 22/18 day

That’s nice. I’d love to see something of a more consistently cold regime set in, but we shall see.

Wow... 52 degrees at SEA with ESE 28G54 on the hour.

That was what took out the power here in N. Seattle. And of course across the street still had power. About 11k SCL customers affected. It was brief (8:50-10:20), but I have lost power here in the city multiple times in the past few years. Pretty unusual.

2022-23 Winter:

11/29: .25" + 1" = 1.25" | 11/30: .25"

12/2: .2" + .5" = .7" | 12/3: .2" | 12/4: trace

12/18: .4" | 12/19: .2" + .8" = 1.0" | 12/20: .2 + 1.5" = 1.7

1/31: trace | 2/14: trace | 2/22: .2 | 2/26: 1.0"

Total: 6.7"
