Im surprised Jim hasn’t used 2019 as an analog yet. I’m guessing he only uses analogs from a 100 years ago.

I think 2018 is probably a better analog if we are going to play that game.

Love the pic I took just minutes before the first flakes started to fly on 2/3/19…The beginning of a great period! My favorite day of that whole period was 2/10/19…We went from deep full blue sky to heavy snow in just a matter of hours! Oh…And it’s coming.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

February 2019 was a great month and simultaneously my least favorite month of tracking. One of the most egregious series of misses for PDX-- with ensembles and models showing feet of snow only to cut it down to cold rain and flurries a day or two before.

It was really fun to go back and read the posts from the 2019 February event.  You can see the same names, with the same up and down model riding nonsense we have now.  Such a great group, and glad I found these forums... :)

I remember how nearly everyone was in high weenie mode in mid-January: “Oh noes! It’s gonna be one of those total dud winters w/o measurable snow. I know it! Life sucks! I’m gonna go eat some worms.”

It's called clown range for a reason.

Sucked as much for PDX as Jan 2017 did for SEA.

When the EPS temporarily took a dump in late January the major weenie mode got very real very fast! Myself included!

Key difference is that February 2017 brought significant fruit for SEA to the point where as far as official stations go it nearly balanced out. Of course, that *and* February 2019 was far snowier for the Puget Sound than January 2017 was for the WV.

What we really need is for some cold air to meet with moisture in the lowlands. That will really set us up for snowfall.

According to Jim Little that makes snow all but inevitable. What’s the fun in that???

This regular season has been fine. Cold November, sub-freezing high in Dec and a brief icing event. It's been active and there have been plenty of worse seasons.
