If I remember correctly... it has become almost routine with these events for the models to show something epic and then back down and then come roaring back as it gets closer.   This just happened with the December event.

Yeah, whether the event works out in the end (and "works out" is obviously subjective depending on your location most the time), the operationals almost always waffle back and forth to within 5 days. Maybe 10% of the time they lock in sooner.

That being said, the times it doesn't work out, the waffling usually goes pretty one-sided in the bad direction 5-7 days out and the good stuff never gets closer.

A forum for the end of the world.

Whatever it take to float your boat it’s here for you to see!

46/36 day here. Some brief afternoon clearing but otherwise mostly cloudy overall. Overcast and 43 now. We’ll see if there’s any clearing tonight. The Portland area in particular has seen a lot of stubborn mid level cloudiness the last few nights. Other areas have lucked out with more clearing.

I have a feeling it’s going to be a rainy spring up around Tim’s neck of the woods this year. Probably won’t turn off until mid June and then we’re all going to have a coolish summer with lots of marine layer days over there. We are DUE.

Too good to be true.

Maybe not if we quadruple dip.

Not sure if it matters anymore. If a mutli-year Niña gave us three consecutive scorching summers I don’t think there’s anything that won’t. Our best bet at something tolerable these days is probably a mildish, humid and wettish summer like 2019. Ironically that was the last Niño summer.

Looks a little colder for PDX than SEA... presumably due to Gorge influence.

00Z on top and 12Z on bottom with the usual reminder that day 10 on the 12Z run is the high through 4 a.m.  ;)

Having been down to texas 3 times since the pandemic started…almost didn’t seem like covid was even going on. Even in September 2020.
I also have a hard time thinking the weather is that big of a stressor to be considered the top issue in Washington. Much bigger issues here than the weather like cost of living for one.

Interesting that money is the biggest stressor for states that are both very poor, very wealthy, and some in between.

Interesting is not a word I would use for any aspect of that map (based of course on Matt Surlee’s Instagram followers)

I went to the Portland Boat Show on 1/10/07 and it SNOWED.

I was last at the boat show on January 27th 2017. It didn’t snow. And I didn’t buy my dream boat with a fancy dash as it was $70k. Same boat is now about $120k.
Instead I bought a well under $10k boat with a cassette deck stereo and original bright red carpet a few years later!
