Nice afternoon for Xmas demobilization.

Our house went from Christmas central this morning to everything packed in boxes now... just 11 months away until it all happens again!

Can anyone tell me where to find a list of water year (not calendar year) precipitation totals for regional stations such as EUG? I know I've seen this a million times, but now for the life of me I can't find it. All I can find is calendar year.

Go to the WRCC site and then copy the monthly precip grid into Excel.

Still a work in progress here. And it’s 10 months here. Covid seemed to alter my wife’s no-Xmas-before-Thanksgiving brain chemistry.

People are so hung up on the SSW.  I guess I kind of understand due to some events in recent years, but I'm afraid people are looking at it as being a magic bullet that we can't do well without.

Don’t be afraid.

You can use this: https://www.weather.gov/pqr/cliplot

Select Eugene, then Water Year Chart and you can select a year

I think it unfortunately only goes back to 2001

You can also use this http://xmacis.rcc-acis.org/

It goes back farther in time than the other site

Select Seasonal Time Series and then Water Year and then you can choose the station

In some years it’s more important than others. February 2019 wouldn’t have happened without the SSW.

That year we got really low snow levels and did not reach 70 once in Downtown LA, but there were sunny days in between as no stupid inversion was able to form.

Just got home from Pullman. It's 31F here with freezing fog which has mainly stayed above 1500ft to about 3k. Bit of an inversion as the LC valley is overcast but the freezing fog layer is above it.

@TigerWoodsLibido would have appreciated the game. Today's game was an early matinee against U$C men. USC is a better team I think but they looked tired with the noon start after a day of traveling. WSU won by about 12 or 13 but they reset the scoreboard right away as they had a Women's game against CU that just started now but we didn't stay and it was a separate ticket.

We had really cheap seats at court side where the students sit but because school is out, they let anyone sit there and get a free Wazzu blanket after the game ended. Their game experience is so much better than Idaho's. Idaho's new arena is pretty but their ads are like grandpa tv volume level. WSU not so much. Granted the band is on break but I don't mind noise but not when it is fake or ads louder than the game. WSU didn't have that so my son wouldn't mind going again.

Regarding the weather in Pullman, aside from the freezing fog it wasn't too bad outside. Not as warm as yesterday but warmer than it has been so kind of where your face feels a bit cold but the rest of you is fine with a coat. My son asked why WSU football doesn't have a roof like basketball and I told him it helps when they play teams from CA or AZ who don't know Arctic air.

40/32 to start the year. Was a sunny morning and then low clouds and fog moved in for the afternoon. Now starting to burn off as the sun sets.

Pattern next 10 days sure is nasty. Classic Nino pattern.

It sure is weird how we went into literally one of the worst patterns for this region right after that great run we had, and we will probably go right back into a great pattern afterward.  Can't wait to see what the analogs flip to when the pattern change gets a bit closer.

Currently 41.8. Good chance I see a freeze tonight and might even be able to squeeze another one in tomorrow night with recent trends.

I’ve been dealing with a particularly severe bout of seasonal depression so not motivated to post. Also been traveling and busy in general.

Am currently in FL.

Sorry to hear about the seasonal depression.  Best to bump the PNW pretty far down your list if you ever move from your current location.  Hopefully the FL sun does some good

Winter’s gonna come roaring back 2nd half of Jan, following our multiweek thaw.

With the current setup in the western Pacific some long time forecasters are saying the only other similar setups have been 1955-1956, 1994-1995, and 2010-2011. thoughts on that?

Incredible clouds down here tonight. Nasty weather rolled through earlier and gave way to this!

Saw some of those but really dark towards Jerome Az this afternoon! So cool looking!
otherwise currently Puking snow here in Prescott Az!  But it’s just not the same as home.  Driving in it a challenge here where I’m locally staying as they have a no lights outside ordnance.  So it was kind of crazy to depict if I was on a road.

Do you even have a pulse?

This Aleutian low/NW-Pacific trough pattern is actually really good for disrupting the PV. Short term pain, long term gain.
