Easy to finish a winter with only ~ 4” total here. It’s always very feast or famine. But to my knowledge we’ve never had a truly “snowless” winter. At least not yet..I’m sure it’ll happen eventually.

Believe it or not this upcoming pattern is the best “snow” pattern we’ve had so far this winter, even though it’s a warmer one. Just need a low to track in right spot without occluding, and it’ll snow.

Wow I’ve had more snow than you. That’s surprising.

Skiers speed down a ski slope with artificial snow in the middle of a snowless field, at 1600 meters above sea level, in the alpine resort of Villars-sur-Ollon, Switzerland, Saturday, Dec. 31, 2022. Sparse snowfall and unseasonably warm weather in much of Europe is allowing green grass to blanket many mountaintops across the region where snow might normally be. It has caused headaches for ski slope operators and aficionados of Alpine white this time of year. (Laurent Gillieron/Keystone via AP)

This is a ski slope at 5k elevation in the Swiss Alps. Ouch.

Parts of Switzerland are getting temps well into the 60s thanks to Alpine downsloping.

ugghhhhh that is awful. you hate to see it

I just went grocery shopping and the lady of the house always does that. MY GOD food is expensive!! 30 bux a pound for king crab on sale!!! 15 bux a pound for a rib steak lol. Now I know why when I see the 400 dollar grocery bills on my credit card statement.  I'm out of the loop with grocery prices.  10 bux for a few apples hahaha.

It's really expensive to buy groceries right now.

The lady that checks my groceries at Fred Meyer told me that people have cut way way back.  Some of her regulars that come through her line have cut way way back.

It's pretty outrageous the prices.  I stopped buying steak and have moved to buying a lot of Kroger brand items.

What's scary is that much of this food was produced before farmers were paying the highest fertilizer prices in 40+ years. There's more food inflation in the pipeline IMO.

My store (Grocery Outlet) is busier than ever.  People complain about rising prices though.  I'm like it's still cheaper than there haha

Temp has been steady in the low 50s this afternoon... no rain out here all day and sky is fairly bright with high cloud bases and good visibility.

My local Gross Out went way downhill. Prices are higher than Fred Meyer now and the food quality is much worse.

I remember when I was 25 I could eat a huge rib steak no problem and now we cook 1 steak for all 4 of us lol.

Mmmmm.  The keg steakhouse has a 24oz prime rib. It’s good.  Don’t think it’s actually on the menu but you can order it.

Lot better than that 00z you were posting all over the place earlier .

I posted one image of the 00Z run.   😀

And the 12Z EPS was almost identical to the 00Z run.     No idea how the 12Z looks "lot better"... looks pretty much the same to me.

12Z on top and 00Z on the bottom:

My mom and dad growing up would take us to the keg. I don't think they are open in the Puget Sound anymore

We have cut way back, we eat a bunch of chicken and fish for protein,  steak maybe a few times a month.  We generally just eat clean, we really like a grilled chicken with jasmine rice and a nice salad. Salad is a must for me with every meal.

I go to the Stayton Grocery outlet quite a bit. Never had a bad experience there.

For me this time of the year I either want cold and dry, cold and snow, or sunny and warm. Days like this get to me anymore once we hit month number 1 in the winter season. Doesn’t bother me in October thru December. But the start of the new year on through into the spring I really dislike days like this. Especially if it drags on day after day. Luckily we have avoided that so far. January/February 2018 was awful for this until we had the greatness come in later in February.
Currently 46 and wet. Damp. Cold…But not in a good way. Yuck.

I really think this is something that happens when you have spent a large number of years here.  My tolerance for it gets a bit less every year.
