00Z ECMWF showed this would be the coldest morning... and it did dip down to 30 briefly at SEA as it shows.    It also shows warmer than normal weather ahead.

Still can't put too much stock in EPS at this range. Look at the massive run to run change. Need to get higher heights in Alaska in future runs if we want progression like GEFS extended shows. In fact, the progression that keeps heights low in Alaska doesn't make much sense to me. 1673913600-V8mlanvqUro.png1673870400-jUMddVNYAfc.png

If we do see the SSW event take shape, it generally leads to a pretty big atmospheric shake up.  Those long range ensembles will be less useful than usual

Maybe overall... but the 00Z run was warmer for Seattle than the 12Z run.

There is patchy fog around the Seattle area in the wind protected areas... but you can tell its really shallow.    The brilliant sunrise is casting a pink/orange hue on the fog in Issaquah.

Skykomish still has lots of snow on the ground despite the torching over the last 8 or 9 days.

This is at about the same elevation as my area and we don't have any snow left except for a couple random snowbanks.

Yikes! Yeah when I nearly killed myself on a tractor the first spring that I started working at the golf course back in 1998 I went full blown safety, especially with the massive slopes on the course and the wet Dewey grass is somewhat similar to driving in icy conditions. I can’t open the article with my horrific cell service (shocked I can post here) so I don’t know the specifics but yeah you have to be sooo careful when running any equipment in rough conditions.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Skykomish is actually East of Snoqualmie Pass. Amazing how far up that valley goes and how much snow they get at such a low elevation.

Read something the other day that said they would need an excess of a years worth of extra precip to make up the amount of the drought. And then they would need to have average precip for the year to not fall back in the hole. Which is crazy to think about!
