Nah, it’s not hard. I never keep a light on mine so they don’t lay during the winter. Don’t get a rooster unless you want them to reproduce. Roosters are generally mean and can be pretty aggressive when you come around the hens.

Back in the states and home now. Iceland is a pretty incredible place. We happened to be there during an unusually cold and snowy period as well which added to the climate shock.

30"+ of heavy wet snow is frozen solid this morning. Snow blowing and shoveling is gonna be a work out.

We had some when I was a kid.  Not that hard at all.  The eggs are so much better than store bought.

My Davis pro station is 18 years old yes 18! And everything still works. I do not like the ambient,  difficult to navigate and figure out all the features. 

One of my great pet peeves.  Most things are total sheit now.  I have learned to go out of my way to buy the best when I buy just about anything.  Saves a lot of grief and money in the long run.  Finally ended up spending $20.00 on a pair of nail clippers recently to get some that actually worked well.

One thing I've noticed in recent years is they make the cords so damn short on most things you have to have an extension cord to go with it.

No they are real easy, definitely worth it for the eggs. Even the expensive eggs you buy in the store aren't as good compared to chickens at home. Just don't get to many. 1 hen per family member is all you need.

A serious obsession with warm weather is not normal.  Sounds funny doesn't it. Tim I truly believe you are more obsessed on why people like me and Jim love cold weather than we are actually obsessed with cold weather lol.

It definitely comes down to personal preference when working outside.  I'll take the cold all day over the heat. I have a bunch of logger friends that would agree with me. Nothing worse that lugging a saw around the woods when it's 90 degrees,  I've done it and it sucks. But a frozen jobsite in a construction zone is no fun either!

I don't think I have a serious obsession with warm weather.   I like comfortable.   But that is very subjective!

My point was about acceptance over disdain.   Jim said he has disdain for people who like mild weather.  Not sure I actually believe that... but I don't get that part. For example... you and I get along great and I have absolutely no disdain for you despite different preferences.   Just the complete opposite in fact. 👍

Yeah even though I’m in a place that has 2’+ of snow on the ground. Part of me was kind of wishing I was getting to experience that nice day over in the Seattle area. It was just cold and rainy in Leavenworth yesterday from the upslope winds and didn’t even hit 40.

      Please find me any text where I show even shred of support for Hamas. I would have thought that I have made it crystal clear my positions on these past 19 pages. I will leave it up to you to interpret what I write however you like, as you do anyway. And where exactly would the Palestinians evacuate to? Egypt? Jordan? Lebanon? Syria? The U.S.? Israel? Nobody wants them for the same reasons why nobody really wants any refugees: They are a strain on the adoptive country. The surrounding countries already have a lot of Palestinian refugees. You probably also forgot about that blockade and barbed wire wall as well, huh? It's pretty heavily protected... except, for some reason, on Oct. 7th. Their total poverty and lack of travel options due to both Israel's blockade and Hamas' actions kinda makes them trapped in their own land. And quite frankly, why the f*ck should they evacuate? It's their land. Try telling a Texan to get off their own land. Remember Waco? We're not a country that likes to take orders from outsiders. You overlooked a lot, my guy. Let's not delude ourselves that somehow we are any different than the Palestinians living in Gaza or The West Bank. If we were in their shoes, many Americans would act exactly the same with the same anger and alignment with extremists or worse. Enemy of our enemy and all that. We live in absolute luxury compared to the Palestinians! That does not stop us from having idiots bombing abortion clinics due to their stupid beliefs. We have gang wars. We have white supremacists scattered across the country. Hell, we have mass shootings all the time! What's our excuse? No country backed by a world superpower is stealing our land, imprisoning/blockading us, and calling us the aggressors at the same time. Our sheer luck of not having to live their lives allows us to pretend that we are different. We're not. Take a look in the mirror and thank your God that you do not have to live like someone in Gaza while some doofus called Mr. Marine Layer judges you. Christianity preaches gratitude and empathy, right?

      April 2024 Weather in the PNW

      I really love wet periods this time of year. Everything is so lush and green/blooming, and the way the rain smells. The contrast of brooding dark skies and a vibrant landscape. Totally different vibe than rainy periods October-March.

      Ended up with a 63/47 day here. Morning mix of clouds and sun then more overcast starting later in the afternoon with some spots of drizzle. Looking forward to the rain tomorrow.
