Both NAM models give us between 1-2" of snow here in Omaha tomorrow afternoon and night. We might squeeze something out of this yet!

Both NAM models also show some freezing rain accumulation of at least .1". The hi res NAM actually spits out amount of over 1" of frozen rain :rolleyes: Could be a little nasty tomorrow evening!

:huh: Headlines in E NE?? Was wondering why nobody was mentioning it? Now I see it got extended back to the SW as well..good signs. I'm gonna get screwed-over in SMI as the 540 thickness stays just north for first little SLP that pops up, then shifts too far south of me for 2nd wave. Perfect screw-job Ma Nature. You can re-pay me next week, I get that funds are low at Christmas!  ;)

 

More black ice in my future it would appear..

we're down to 31 degrees with lt freezing rain and little bit of sleet mixing in. I just came in from running a few errands and the roads I drove on were fine, yet OPD is not responding to non injury accidents anymore, so there must be enough accidents/slick roads somewhere in town. cars, branches, and elevated surfaces all have a thin coat of ice on them.

A little stronger look to it. If we could get it just a bit stronger and/or have it eject a little slower even Chitown could see a couple flakes.

 

Yeah, IF it has a clue, I like where mby's sitting - heaviest just to my SE. Nice swath of purples showing up by later Sat pm..

Since the real-deal cold isn't progg'd to come in before this wave, a NW trender is certainly at least even-$$ from this range. It's been warm south of MI, like spring-time warm so it would make some sensible wx sense to me..

Speaking of the delayed cold. Man does that SWS by IWX make them look silly. They bit way too hard on what the over-blown over-eager GFS was advertising. Lesson learned I'm sure. PM afd was still clinging to it, but not the apocalyptic wording like before..

This is a nice map! Looks like my ideas about this winter having the OHV in it's crosshairs might be on track..

same thing here in the DSM area on my commute into work. Cars in the ditch all over the place-- mainly from the -FZDZ with a candy coating of -SN on top. The media like to say that people forget their winter driving skills- I say you either can drive in it or you can't. It's not something you forget how to do....

Suddently, as I anticipated, models are spitting out some snow for STL/INDY from the secondary wave...I think we have some lurkers in this region...

This system was literally a total dud.  Not only did we not get any snow, we didn't even get any measurable precip, period.

season snowfall: 34.8"

Unfortunatley I can't share your memories of being serenaded with blessings in May 1998! edit: my main point was about green grass those two years were pretty green through mid July here, 2022 especially. Definitely not the norm of the last decade or so

It's quite simple: By focusing on class rather than race, you are essentially still tending to the needs of the historically discriminated communities without all the justifiable blowback of race based policy. I do not know why that is so hard for some to understand. Focusing on commonality rather than differences yields a better society. But, you know what comes next... Those at the top do not want us working together. A divided nation is an easily led nation.

      April 2024 Weather in the PNW

      The fact that those are the two analogs you remember most readily for that sort of thing says more about the sad state of our climate than it does anything. 2019 actually had a top tier warm and dry May and an averagish June followed by a reasonable if not mild summer. 2022 had a coolish and wettish May followed by an averagish June, after which we descended directly into summer hellfire and didn’t look back until November. They’re getting pretty ancient now, but a couple better examples of a classic cool and wet May/June would be 2010 and 2012.

      I really hope May and June are a soaker. That usually keeps things lush into the early Summer. Already starting to see some brown in the backyard. Running out of time to save it before our wet season is used up. Nothing is worse than entering ASO browntown three months ahead of schedule and staying that way. The majority of 2014-18 were tinder dry and sickly colored. Hoping we go the route of 2019, or especially 2022.
