Per Noaa:

This airmass will be the coldest in quite some
time, with daytime highs by Saturday plunging into just the teens,
with lows into the single digits. Another clipper system interacting
with ejecting southern stream energy may bring another round of
snowfall to the region.

While the trip was great it is still good to be back home. With the end of January just a day away it is time to take a late month inventory as to where we stand here at GR. So far this month is almost average temperature wise coming in with a mean of 24.7° (average mean is 24.3° so we are +.03°) The month as had more precipitation fall as rain then snow. We have had 2.12” total of witch 1.44” was rain. Total snow fall is just 12.6” and for the season we are now at 46.1” of snow NOTE last winter as of this date we had 49.3” so we are still running behind last winter here in Grand Rapids. That should change as we head into February.

Snow is lighten up a bit. Its beautiful out there. Current temp @ 22F.

@ Jaster: how much ya got there?

Ended up with 3.5" after a final few tenths after dark. Nice little over-achiever surprise storm!

Just finished cleaning up out there w my snowblower. Picked up more than 8 inches. Seemed more like 8.5 or so. I will try to post tomorrow a measurement. My foot was half way deep in, so, it was an impressive snowstorm. :D

  You must live on Mt. Niko or something. Nobody from that region was reporting half that per DTX's list, including Shelby Twnshp right next door to Macomb Village

Sneak attack plowable snow overnight. Forecast called for less than 0.5” but I have about 2-2.5” on the driveway. It’s a nice refresher to cover up the dirty piles from the last storm. January turned out to be a very good month here for snow totals.

Wow, the 2017-18 sneak-attack storm club has a new member in here - congrats and welcome!  :)

I carry a card and was able to punch it twice this month back on the 12th, and again two days ago..highlights of the month for mby

Day late, but who cares?

January started off with a boom. Oops, I meant without, as nobody set off any fireworks with how freakin' cold it was on New Year's. Lincoln's icy grip continued into January, with the first six days being at least 10 degrees below normal. However, that switch flipped fast and we warmed up and had a few warmer days before another, shorter Arctic blast. A few light snow events happened during this blast, ending with a snow depth of around 2". But THAT melted quickly, and the January of two faces flipped warm again for a little bit, before the "blizzard" on the 22nd. The airport recorded 1.8", but other parts of Lincoln received 3-4". After that, January was warm temperature-wise, with only a trace of snow falling at the airport on the 28th.

January ended with a mean temperature of 24.1*F, which is 0.5* below the normal January mean of 24.6*F. The lowest minimum temperature for January was -19*F, which occurred on the 1st, and the highest minimum temperature was 37 on the 21st. The highest maximum temperature for January was 56 on the 10th, and the lowest maximum temperature was 4 on the 1st. No records were set this January. At the Lincoln Airport, 0.41" of precip fell, 0.23" below the normal amount of 0.64". 3.4" of snow fell, which is 2" below the normal January amount of 5.4". This makes for the 9th straight NDJFM month with below normal snowfall.

Can't believe we ended up near or even slightly about average temps around here.
